First, Starmount is for REAL. They are a well-coached, quality team, that my not lose again until deep in the playoffs, if then!!
The Ram's defense did a great job stopping the Bear's offense except on three fabulous runs by Taeshon Martin. The Ram QB is REALLY GOOD.
Mount Airy's defense is really, really good. If they can improve their pass coverage the Bears are going to be very tough all season.
The Granite Bear offense needs work! They are not a well-oiled machine as in the past several years. I have no doubt the O Line will jell as they are a "new" group and not a cohesive unit, yet. But they will get there. Individually they are very talented.
In my opinion, the Bears have to find (or develop) another running back. They are running multi sets in an effort to not let the opposition defense just focus on Martin. But to have a chance to move deep into the playoffs they need to find an offensive set that does what the option set has done for them in the past several years. ("we are going to run it and you cannot stop it")
I am not saying anything the Coaches do not know. And they will work on it and find it, I believe.
Last night was a big night for the Bears. And they won.
But Starmount also won, in my opinion, because those guys came to play and play they did.
