Seen STM they are huge. Linebacker is very good #32 in practice jersey # I think this game comes down to best coaches team. BTW K Holder is not coaching anymore finally retired for good.
They've got more size on the line than I was anticipating. Maybe not quite as big as last year's line but more athletic. Propst is a difference maker at linebacker. I'm sure him and Martin will be going head to head and talking smack. The other Billips twin will hopefully be back at linebacker for the game. He hasn't scrimmaged due to injury. A lot of family rivalry stuff with the Jonesville boys and Martin which makes it more fun and hopefully bring out the best in each other.

That's a verrrry distant 2nd too. That's ok if the Bears win. If the Rams JV's are healthy the Bears will get a good taste of what they can expect for at least the next 4 years starting tomorrow night.
One year. Your super team almost lost to a very average bears jv team. After winning big in middle school. Better buy in. Better coaching better athletes eliminate that size difference you have in middle and jv

Are you sure the young players that are coming up are better athletes? What metrics are you basing that on? What proof do you have?

Also, are you 100% sure your coach is a better coach? Looking at that all-star roster he had last year, the game sure was close. He got handed the keys to a race car and might end up crashing it.

Bunker Hill is the 3rd ranked 4a team in the state. Not sure anyone would classify them as terrible. The other 2 teams didn't look that bad either.
BH may be ranked that...but they aren't that. I have no idea why they are getting this much love. Simmonsratings.com is more accurate...has BH at like 33rd

So the Starmount community kids just happen to always be bigger in middle school and 9th & 10th grade? 😂That's a new one I've never heard before.

I doubt very seriously that even many Mt Airy fans believe Taylor is a better coach than Pardue. This is laughable

Games I watched he was average. Does Starmount have new OC this year? Play calling against the Bears first game was not great.

They aren't ranked 4th in Maxpreps. I think it said 11th. West and Hibriten were both ranked higher than BH.

Yes I agree with that. They had an arena football coach as the offensive coordinator. What Pardue lacked with offensive play calling he made up for in defense, shutting the Bears out in the second half. Pardue's strongsuit is defense.

Yes they do have a new one.

Yes...it adjusted at some point. They do return their QB and have a transfer at WR I think that'll help. They are coached well. But they had their best teams ever the last 3 years and they are maybe half that this year.

I don’t think he did a poor job. They put up a ton of points. MA had an absolutely elite defense and Starmount might have had the 2 highest point totals vs them all year.

First off he's not my coach. I think they were probably some maturity issues on that team. But you talk about that in the first game. In the second game when you got your butt kicked decidedly you didn't talk about it did you. You got a better culture there with the guy you got now though I will agree with that as far as what you used to have. You have some toughness. Which is what you didn't have before. But that guy that you talk about is the coach at Mount airy was the defensive coordinator for a few years on some really good teams. Starmount won't even score they might score once. But yeah I am sure because I think that the group of guys that are there develop people. I think the school system lets them develop people. And I think they have more athletes than anybody else around. Transfers are not.

Taylor has a few Ship Rings as an assistant and he did beat the Rams twice last year so hmmmmm.....MA coach just may be the better coach.

Bears have most of their defense back, but a lot of new players on offense. They do have 19 seniors, so they should be ok after the first game jitters. MA 15 to 6 at the half. Starmount is going to be tough to beat in 2A this year

Lol that's Cavalier95 slash Rough Trader. The boasting of Mt Airy but "not a fan" junk along with the bad spelling and grammar give him away. 🤣🤣 Probably won't hear from him anymore after this year unless he jumps back to East Surry lol
What's your other name? Or is ball your name. As in lack o ball sack. Quit being a ***** and your stupid laughs. I'm still here. Not rough though just a Western Cleveland county boy that went to school across the lines.

First, Starmount is for REAL. They are a well-coached, quality team, that my not lose again until deep in the playoffs, if then!!
The Ram's defense did a great job stopping the Bear's offense except on three fabulous runs by Taeshon Martin. The Ram QB is REALLY GOOD.

Mount Airy's defense is really, really good. If they can improve their pass coverage the Bears are going to be very tough all season.
The Granite Bear offense needs work! They are not a well-oiled machine as in the past several years. I have no doubt the O Line will jell as they are a "new" group and not a cohesive unit, yet. But they will get there. Individually they are very talented.

In my opinion, the Bears have to find (or develop) another running back. They are running multi sets in an effort to not let the opposition defense just focus on Martin. But to have a chance to move deep into the playoffs they need to find an offensive set that does what the option set has done for them in the past several years. ("we are going to run it and you cannot stop it")

I am not saying anything the Coaches do not know. And they will work on it and find it, I believe.

Last night was a big night for the Bears. And they won.
But Starmount also won, in my opinion, because those guys came to play and play they did.

It was a tough battle as expected. I was impressed with both teams sheer will to win.

I thought Starmount did a very nice job on defense. They got some pressure on the QB, some nice hits. Held the Bears in check except for 3 plays. Those 3 plays decided the game. The Rams where missing a starting Senior linebacker due to injury. Don't know if that would've made a difference or not. The Starmount offense did pretty good. The Mt Airy defensive front had a lot to do with the offensive struggles. Starmount's inability to capitalize at the goal line twice especially the second time really hurt. The botched wildcat 2 point conversion to tie the game which resulted in a false start and then back to back penalties and miss on the extra point. Then the long pass play to get to the goal line and botch the wildcat snap was devastating. Even the bad snap or fumble for the field goal. It's tough mentally on a team when that happens.

I could see the concerns of other Mt Airy posters with the Bears. Their offense is very dependent on Martin. Remove him from the Bears and I doubt that they would be able to score. The Freshman QB looked like a freshman QB. He was shaky with bad passes and a fumble. I thought he looked better as the game went on. He will continue to grow and get better as the season goes on. I'll be anxious to see how he progresses. They will need him to be poised and able to throw deep in the playoffs. If I were the Mt Airy coaching staff I would use every opportunity in the games ahead to work on the pass. It has to be developed to have any chance at a championship appearance.

Congrats to Bears. I think this game will help both teams. A great early test to show what you need to work on. I think both teams will be headed for much success.

Also, missed Rodriguez, our starting safety and wide receiver. Good athlete that could have let Best have some plays off on D.

Bottom line the bears are the better team for probably the 6th straight year but this is probably the last of that run. I expect in a year this game will be a very big win for the rams. Starmount fired the OC from last year who averaged 44 pts but didn’t run the ball effectively to hire a OC who runs the ball effectively but won’t throw the football. Starmount fans are going to get really angry at times because the lack of pass plays but just remember the two bears teams that won it didn’t pass much either. Good luck to both teams going forward!
