DeSoto Co has so many transplants from states that would be considered “liberal”.
This is info that I was told by someone in the DC school system.
When everyone turns out, DeSoto is at least 60/40 GOP. Probably a little higher than that.

The GOP got wiped out for three main reasons:
Four reasons --

You forgot Epstein. Several folks have already mentioned it in this thread as a reason for not casting their vote for Smith. He promised to release them, failed to deliver, and he looks guilty as hell about it.

I doubt all that many American are willing to excuse that sort of thing, even if that means voting for a godless communist or not voting at all.

All I know is two years ago Trump was in position to do so much good for the average American and I was pumped. After killing DOGE before it really got started, protecting the Epstein Class/Swamp, and getting us in a War that has made everything unaffordable it's hard for me to get behind a politician that whole platform is "I voted for all of Trump's policies".
Year CPI-U (annual average) Inflation rate
2020 258.8 +1.2%
2021 271.0 +4.7%
2022 292.7 +8.0%
2023 304.7 +4.1%
2024 313.7 +2.9%
2025 321.9 +2.6%

2026 2.4 2.4 3.3 3.8 4.2 3.5 3.4 3.4 3.7

But sure, let's blame it on the war

Epstein is also disingenuous because nobody cared about them when democrats were in power. It was just an attempt to throw some trump shlt against a wall and hope it stuck. Every democrat who stood behind a podium demanding their release sure didn't have that energy when they had the power to get it done themselves. Where the trump admin failed was all the idiotic grandstanding by that moron Bondi about "having the files on my desk." Trump definitely picked some duds for the cabinet.

Epstein was pure political theater. If you fell for it, congrats, but I saw it for what it was. Trump has given the country plenty of ammo to move left. That shouldn't be part of it.

What do you think caused the numbers to jump up starting in March?

This would be less disingenuous if it was actually more expensive to live in America than it was two/three years ago. Consumer spending and consumer sentiment metrics do not match the affordability narrative. Yeah, yeah, housing, food prices, gas, etc. It was all worse under Biden.

The GOP got wiped out for three main reasons: Trump fumbled the Iran thing and pissed off much of his own base; two, the media gave more oxygen to emotional theatrics around ICE, affordability, and general Trumpian BS, and three, people are just sick of Donald Trump. I'm one of them. The difference between me and a lot of the mental midgets out there is that I still had the testicular fortitude to avoid pulling the lever for a communist.
you hit almost all the scary talking points just a day late for the election, although you didn't work Soros in so that'll be a deduction...ICE's treatment of people is not acceptable, our country being at a lifetime low in international standing is not acceptable, our military being sucked dry of capability behind a caveman running a department of war is not acceptable, our president being a toxic narcissist is not acceptable, very little about how this country is being run is acceptable (that gilded ballroom tho!) and it stems from Republicans allowing a party takeover by a moron, then not having the single nut required to get rid of the moron at the first possible opportunity

Probably had more to do with the tariff effect.

Energy prices are unnecessarily high right now. The oil price doesn't justify where gas prices are. It suggests other factors are at play. We're getting more oil out of the middle east today than we were before the Iran conflict started.

Gen X has been completely skipped in high level politics.

I was in 7th grade when Bill Clinton was elected president.

Bill Clinton is younger than Donald Trump.
X is 46 to 61 years old right now.

I wanted to teasingly reference Vance and Miller as evidence of X not being skipped...but then I remembered they are older than me and I am the eldest of Millennials.
Wild. They just look old.

I think the record shows the average turn out is 87%. It doesn’t take a lot for either party to be miffed and cast a vote in the other direction. I been here my whole life, it’s changing, fast!

I'll say it, Hyde-Snith comes across as dumb as a brick, not that there's anything wrong with that.
