that think that Cohen left UK in shambles were Yancy, who wrote that in one of his fluff pieces, and Ol Blue.
That's ridiculous considering that UK probably would not have won a championship in most minor conferences and the fact that Delta State would have probably fared better in the SEC than UK when Cohen took over. Then, in about three years Cohen takes them to the SEC Championship, which was a minor miracle, and makes them a top 25 team, and by the time they left, they were among the leaders in recruiting. Cohen then leaves, and the team immediately drops down to average.
I guess the rationale is that Cohen left them in shambles because they were average, but the reality is Cohen probably would have done much better than Henderson did at UK last year. It would be like if someone hired Petersen away from Boise State and they fell off to a 6-6 team. It wouldn't be because Petersen left them in shambles, it's because Petersen was a good coach and was able to get his team to perform and win.
That theory is even more ridiculous considering the fact that despite the "shambles" that Cohen left their program in- which by the way was the most successful period in UK baseball history- the Wildcats threw a ton of money at Cohen to keep him. I have heard that it was more than what he came to MSU for, which was a lot in itself.
As far as Mullen, yeah, the jury was out during the off season, but Dan would almost have to try to be as bad as Croom. Honestly. I didn't know how Dan would do at MSU, but all I knew was when I went to the spring game this year, that was the most organized I have ever seen an MSU football team. That made me feel pretty good about him.
