MSU basketball gets me yelling at my TV more than anything else...

Last night's loudest moment was in the 2nd half when Bryant went to get the loose ball and falling out of bounds - threw
it back to the middle of the court. All Sidney had to do was take a few
steps to gain possession but he acted like he was fair catching a
punt. Akron player cut in front and led to a fast break.

I let out one big 17 and made the dog run to the bedroom.

For fear of the stuff that was about to come out of my mouth while eating dinner in front of my 2-year old.

The problem is that going on about 4 years now it looks like they literally don't care if they win or lose or even play well. Basically we look like an NBA team that's 20-40 and has given up on the season.

Rick even said it after the game that we never looked "into it". Well then you know what Rick - you burn about 3 straight timeouts chewing their *** on the sideline to get the message through - go full court press (in an attempt to speed tempo) and the first time one of them goes half speed, you pull the entire starting unit out and continue to chew their asses out. Rinse and repeat until the guys hustle and even if he sat them all the 2nd half I would have been fine with it and the resulting loss.

He has to know his *** is on the line this year so he has to send a message that playing like you don't care will not be tolerated and it shocks me that he's unable to find anybody on the team that seems to want to take a leadership role.

on up in my man cave. I hate loosing anything due to a lack of effort and Akron wanted it a whole lot more than we did. They kicked us in the balls and we did not respond.

It's been that way for several years now. And it pisses me off.

But I realized some time ago that it was best for my sanity and for any throwable objects within arm's reach.

The issue I don't think has anything to do with coaching, I don't think the issue lies in whether or not Dee or Bryan or Sidney should have done this, or should not have done that... this issue with this team is foundational. The worst kind of issue a team could have. There is absolutely no motivation, unity, reliance on others, or leader on this team. Last night was literally the first time I said "this is the worst college TEAM I've seen take the field/court and play. It was embarrassing to watch. We were clueless the whole game (with the exception of the first two minutes of each half... we had a little drive there), but after that, there was nothing.

Even the lack of fouls we committed made me wonder. With 5 minutes to go in the first half, we had 3 fouls, and with 5 minutes to go in the second half, we had 1... 4 fouls committed in 75% of the game, while Akron had at LEAST 8 in both halves. That's lack of effort. That's not knowing what you are doing on the defensive end.

I don't know what the issue is, but Stansbury has zero control or influence over this team, and if I didn't want to believe it before last night, last night convinced me. Every year is the same sob story... we lose one game we should have won because of lack of effort, but last night was worse than any other loss... including FIU or Ryder... and if I wasn't on the "Stans needs to go" bandwagon before, now I am. No way you have this much talent on the floor and manage 3 baskets in nearly half the game. 19 minutes is nearly a HALF... and 3 17ing baskets. Not only that, giving up HALF the other teams points off careless turnovers... HALF!! This is going to be a long year...

This is when I stopped watching the game....that is one lazy POS. The team looked lost the entire night and it was typical Buryball.

I have to wonder, does this team even practice? There is even less organized offense than previous Stansbury teams, just Bost dribbling around with the ball while the others stand around until someone jacks up a contested shot or throws the ball away.
I also wonder whether Sidney is even required to play defense, since he is usually standing off to the side when the other team is attacking the basket area.

One more thing, do you not think the team might concentrate a little better on the bench and during timeouts if Rick's kids were not sitting in the bench area, conversing with the bench players .

Stansbury does this EVERY year.

He'll probably still go 12-4 or at least 11-5 in SEC play after stumbling through OOC play, and you'll be on the tourney bubble. If you do get in, you'll have a low enough seed where you won't be able to advance past the first or second round.

Rinse and repeat.

I'm not going to get very emotionally involved in our basketball team this year, because I know at the end of the year we'll be fairly close to the bubble, but we'll end up in the NIT. No reason to sweat it.

Stans takes head scratching OOC losses every year. The only difference this year is that your OOC schedule is beefed up, so some of your losses won't be as big of head scratchers, and you may balance a few of them out with quality wins.

Do like I did and just stop caring about MSU basketball.

I'd compare the day I quit caring about our basketball program to the day I quit smoking because I knew that I immediately had years added back to my life.

Got one that age now & herepeats every single thing I do. I can no longer watch or listen to our basketball games. Last night I tuned in with a few minutes left - said "Oh... wow" and turned it off.

I've discovered my life is much better if I avoid MSU basketball. It's really a shame because I used to love it. It's not so much the losing that pisses me off, but rather the underachieving teams.

These early games matter, and Stans has never figured that out. He's sweating Selection Sunday because of games like last night.

He has no ability to instill a sense of urgency ,pride, or enthusiasm in his players ....they have no respect for him....this cluster. 17 is all on the coach .....he needs to go...

as far as his physical ability from last year. The guy still looks about 30-40 lbs overweight.

For the first time in a long time, I have actually witnessed a player work hard in the offseason and lose 30-40 lbs. If you watched Ole Miss basketball last year, you probably saw Demarco Cox play about 4 minutes and look to be about 300 lbs.

I didn't recognize him in pictures, and he actually has lost 40 lbs, maybe more since April of 2011. He is the only athlete I can remember at Ole Miss that actually decided to get his *** in shape over an offseason. It was so damn refreshing.

Watching MSU play just reminds me of Ole Miss basketball, neither team values the basketball. What surprised me last night was that MSU looked like Ole Miss on the defensive end. I really don't think Renardo lasts the season. At some point Rick has to take control of the team.

Hood is a stud and I think he and Bost should be the focus of the offense with Moultrie grabbing boards.

Stans needs to bench his ***. His 12-14 points per game are not worth the lack of defense, attitude, and effect his attitude and play has on others. Bench his ***....if he gets pissed and leaves...good, good riddance. This dude is on abou strike 5 by now....send him packing.

Build this season around Bost, Hood, and Moultrie. Bench Sid until he blows up and quits. Then I bet this team starts playing a lot better.

..a lateral pass, running up the middle 1st & goal, abandoning the running game when the running game is working, abandoning the passing game when the passing game is working, ignorant personal foul penalties...this keeps me pretty loud during football games.

But BuryBall definitely runs a very close second.
