when announcers say something like that. "For the first time since" and then it not be very long ago. In this case, it means we didn't win the series last year, but did 2 years ago.
Announcers say this all the time and it bugs me when it's short period or a low number.
Another less obvious example would be something like "State hasn't beaten Florida in football at home since 2004", inferring that there have been a lot of opportunites over a long time. Even though it is a long time, there hasn't been but one other opportunity.
