I sold my generation I and got a generation II a few months ago, one of the greatest all-around lenses I've ever used. I'm jealous of what you are getting to take great shots of. I guess I could go cover SMU and Juneball.

I use that lens for everything.....baseball, football, basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball. I was shooting baseball with that lenslast year during the Vanderbilt series and was well out of the way behind the catcher (I thought) shooting the pitcher warming up after coming out of the bullpen....wild warm-up pitch and it hit my hand on the camera and broke my middle finger pretty bad...I've always expected something like that to happen out there eventuallybut would have been a lot more upset if it had broken that lens instead of my hand. And yeahI got pretty lucky with what I get to shoot....I grew up a State fan, but photography was just a complete accident...any random person in the stands has taken as many photography classes or had as much training as I have. I'm definitely a sports fan with a camera rather than a photographer at a sporting event.</p>

I almost always shoot aperture priority....incertain situations with plenty of light I may set aperture and shutter speed manually and set my ISO to auto. Outdoors I always use auto WB.....indoors I generally set it manually. I'm probably not the bestperson to be taking advice from though.....I usually just adjust to the situation as best I can and figure things out as I go.
