There is still a lot that can happen as their is much football to be played. In the 4A East it is safe to say that CG and Cleveland are the favorites. One of them will be eliminated this Friday. I also think it will be a very physical game and go down to the 4th qr. The winner will probably be nicked up. LR is not far behind and when you have a very strong defense you always have a chance. They seem to be putting some things together on offense and scoring more. If that continues they could win the East. Rolesville is rolling and may be the hottest team in the East as they put up impressive numbers on offense. The defense is not as good as last year and the O line needed some time to gel but they are scoring at a high rate. They could win the East as well. Then you have Hoggard and Millbrook who have 1 loss each this year. Millbrook can score and they have some impressive wins this season. Hoggard struggled early with consistent O line play but they have really come together the last 4-5 weeks. They have given up 99 points in 12 games. Hoggard wants to run the ball but they can throw it. Their QB can make all the throws. PC is a solid team that has a very elusive QB that gives a nice WR core time to get open. He has a nice arm and can keep them in any game. Then you have Knightdale who has played a very tough scd and they have been in just about every game but lost some close ones. Maybe they have figured some things out and are playing at a high level. The East is wide open.

Yeah I saw rolesville online. They look good
Got blown out by EF.

Honestly on the East bracket Cardinal Gibbons is the clear favorite. It’s hard to judge Cleveland because they haven’t played anyone. But I wasn’t that impressed with them this spring in the 3AA championship. With that being said, they did have their star running back out so I’m sure that affected them.

You're right that was week 2. With that being said, looking not only at their record, but how many points they give up even in their wins is just nuts. That defense got more holes than Swiss cheese.

Rolesville is averaging right at 50 points per game since their 0-2 start. That puts a lot of pressure on the other team to keep scoring. Rolesville defense gives it up but they really don’t have much pressure on them. They simply need 3-4 stops per game and they win. I do not think they are the best team in the East but they can definitely win the East if they catch a few breaks.

I see Chambers once again rising to the challenge and advancing out of the west and beating Cleveland in the title game.

You need both. I've seen plenty of teams with athletes and no coaching and it's a terrible ending. Need a balance of both.
Chambers coaching staff has not changed much, from the last 2 State Championship appearances. I don't believe coaching will be a problem.

We scored twice in our first 7 plays. Things were going well for us until about 4 minutes left in the 1st half when we had not 1, but 2 fumbled snaps in a span of 2 minutes. We averaged 10 yards per carry in the game but those 3 fumbled snaps in the 1st half that gave Rolesville the ball 20-30 yards from the end zone did us in. I wanted us to control the clock and get about 3-4 yards a carry and shorten the game but we scored so fast, had unforced errors and gave up too many 3rd and 12, 3rd and 20, 4th down etc conversions and our D was just gassed. Our best defensive player had wrist surgery the last week of the regular season and just wasn't healthy enough to be a force and ended up missing the second half. Had a 27-21 lead with about 4 minutes left in the first half, went to half down 35-27 and Rolesville got the ball to start the 2nd half and it was a wrap. There were 5 fumbles in the game (3 by us and 2 by them) and Rolesville fell on all of them. Perfect storm.

This an example of why its so hard to win it all.

Chambers has athletes and I will say athletes are better than coaching all day long.

I will take the opposite. I think its 80% coaching.

3 of the 4 remaining teams have won recent State Championship. Rising through adversity and lazy, are not problems they’ll have.

It's not a blanket statement. But I've seen it.... SP has beaten far superior teams with less talent on coaching and heart alone; nothing more.

Charlotte area schools are superior for a reason. The talent pool in which the schools draw from can't be matched. No one is disputing that.

Any given Friday. I’m just not familiar with teams this far along, losing games because they’re lazy. Coaches make adjustments, and the underdog, sometimes win. That’s why we play the game. It still comes down to what you do with that talent. You have the larger programs in the State. AK, SM, and MP, great pool of talent. Won nothing.

I think much of it is great coaching and getting the most out of that talent. For example, East Forsyth. They don't have the size pool of talent, say like you said, AK, SM or MP. But like this year, they are right there in the mix, every season. That comes down to the great coaching job coach Willert and his staff are doing there.

They're right in the mix every year because East Forsyth greatly benefits from open enrollment in Forsyth County.

I had Chambers beating Cleveland in the final. Now I have to adjust to Chambers over Cardinal Gibbons in the Final.

That's true. So why does Forsyth County have open enrollment?
In a short nutshell:

The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system used to bus students across town to balance the schools. But the U.S. Supreme Court struck down those tactics in a series of decisions in the 1990s. Locally, busing was phased out starting in 1995 in favor of “choice zones,” which allow parents to choose from among multiple schools.

Definitely a Weddington fan and have been since we moved down from Atlanta. Chambers has speed but we have played teams with more. We will do our talking on the field
