I'm still curious if Cam would've stayed, or at least been more open to a higher NIL offer, if Mulcahy had gone into the portal first.
Highly doubt it. Either he a) played us all along and was planning to leave regardless or b) he suddenly changed his mind because he was insulted about the money Noah was getting, was tampered with or whatever (I.e. nothing related to Paul as this would mean he had previously planned to return to play with Paul).

Cam didn’t leave because of PT and Paul is a pass first PG anyway. Not seeing a connection.

If Mulcahy stayed he was moving to off guard primarily with Noah here, and possibly behind *Simpson as PG #2. *Simpson is playing 2G/1G. With Cam that would've been 3 guards primarily splitting 2G minutes.

*meant Derek Simpson

Except Mulcahy entered the portal after Spencer was already gone.

Yeh, pretty sure Mulcahy didn't want to be PG #3 at all. That's why I am curious if he left first would Cam have possibly stayed, or at least considered a NIL counter to stay.

*meant Mulcahy would be splitting minutes w/Simpson at both guard spots, behind Noah at starting PG and behind Cam at starting SG..

There’s no need for me to reveal my source however let’s just say it’s a very very good source
So the $400k NIL payment isn't public knowledge just inside info a few know and the media hasn't reported Paul's NIL payment

Not wanting to reveal a source is commendable, but also the claim might need to be taken with a grain of salt seeing there' isn't a way to validate
the claim.
Not saying the $400k didn't get paid, just wondering why it hasn't been reported by the Washington media.
Maybe not worth the trouble for media and fan blogs to cover NILs under a million.

But in anycase, hope Pau;'s getting the money you say his NIL was worth

Why hasn't Gavin Wimsatts NIL money ever been reported?
It's not public information so you're never going to get a "report".

Look as at the basketball contract numbers.
Those weren't publicly announced either.
It took an OPRA request to get the numbers.

You're asking for public announcements of private contracts with private entities.

For anyone who believes Paul Mulcahy is getting $400K in NIL money to play at Washington
Do you think every returning starter is getting > $400K, or are they all ok getting less than Paul
What do you think Washington's total NIL budget is? $3M? - you'd need that for 5 starters @$400K+ and a bench

Last season Paul averaged 8.3 points/game, 3.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, shot 42% overall, 37% from 3
I mean -if a bunch of rich boosters decide they want to buy a competitive team for the season, it could be possible, right? I’m certainly no NIL expert but it sure seems like this is how it works

Would be ironic to see Rutgers/Washington in the First Four Next March..
Not completely out of the question if RU has a slow start to the season & Huskies are improved with Paul there..

I don't think we need to know the exact number. I guess the answer is "enough money to re-locate across the country." Although I hear it is a beautiful campus...

Yes no one knows for sure what Gavin’s deal was for, but it was reported

There’s a difference from saying heard it from a friend but no way to check and reading that there was a deal , even if amount wasn’t said but an generalization.

When someone states something, it would be nice if they don’t imply where they got the information is none of your business.
Too often , on message boards, inside info doesn't pan out.
Not saying the $400k claim for Paul's deal isn't true, just that I need more than a trust me it's true, but won't tell you how I know, to become a true believer.

Gavin Wimsatts NIL money:>

>On the night before the 2021 season began, it was reported that prized recruit Gavin Wimsatt was shockingly ending his senior season at Owensboro high school in Kentucky after three games to join Rutgers earlier than expected. The top 100 recruit in the class of 2022 was expected to enroll early in January, but instead will start classes on campus on Monday.

A reported six figure name, image and likeness deal is considered a motivating factor for his change of course.

This article shows Gavin got an NIL deal, I haven't seen anything except talk without validation about Paul's deal
edit: we can accept someone saying they heard a player got a nice NIL deal for big bucks and when an exact $ amount goes with that claim , heard it through the secret grapevine might be true, but without validation that claim won't be taken as gospel by me.
No one needs to be upset , just realize some expect some kind of proof before accepting what has been claimed .

Was the 6 figure NIL deal given to Gavin by the. RU supporters possibly spread out over 3-4 years? The numbers change a great deal if it’s a multi year deal.

that's a great 6 figure question, that could possibly be really 2 figures a year that would wind up 6 when the years are added up 😀and the answer is something I don't know or know anyone who does.

A 6’7” point guard who puts up assists, plays D and rebounds is worth a lot more than you thought. Apparently more than Cam too.

It’s interesting - I’m curious whether NIL boosters value what fans want or what coaches want more in players. Fans tend to look at scoring first and foremost to assess value. Winning coaches do not. It’s not that putting up points doesn’t have value - it’s just that fans tend to overvalue it relative to other skills that have more potential for differentiation from a supply and demand perspective.

Caleb is a great example of this in terms of NBA value. for those insisting Cam was our “best player” last season, there’s no way Cam will be in the running for a 2 way deal ever. Caleb is more marketable than Cam as an NBA prospect.

College value is different from NBA value but the concept is similar. There are less players that do the things Paul does than there are sharp shooters. That might yield more NIL potential on a team that needs a ball handler to be competitive.

I think the coaches are specific and in direct contact with the most influential boosters to let them know exactly what pieces they need and why the skillset is important for next year's team.

Very true. I have said this over and over. Every coach in the country would love to have Paul on their team. Pass first, tall PG that can do everything. Very hard to find those guys.

I agree but Paul had plenty of options. Washington appears to need him the most.

I don't know if I'd say never. If Spencer can work on his 1v1 defense while maintaining a 43%+ hit rate from the arc and a 2.3 ast/tov ratio, he might get a look somewhere. His brother is playing professionally overseas and isn't nearly as good a player.

Re: Caleb vs Cam, 100%. They are both “specialists” - but Cam isn’t the back to back B1G 3 point shooter of the year.

There’s a big difference between playing professionally abroad and getting NBA looks. Cam is not close to being a candidate for a two way contract right now. His “specialism” involves feasting on midmajors and weaker major conference defenders at the collegiate level. He’s a much better wide open shooter than Caleb. When a higher percentage of shots are contested at the next level, their offensive skill sets converge some. Neither are good iso players but Caleb is probably the better of the two at creating for himself when covered to keep a D honest. He won’t hit 3s but Cam wouldn’t get off many of them in the NBA. That’s a problem when that’s the skill he offers.
