I would not be surprised if Kelly's agent hasn't reached out to Penn State or Penn State hasn't reach out to Kelly's agent. . Kelly might be seeing the writing on the wall. You Franklin has been in contact with some of these schools. If he plays his cards right he could end back in the SEC.

He’s like the ex we can’t quit stalking on facebook. Once a year or so he’ll comment on us and we get excited
He ain’t coming back here. Why do some of you keep talking about him. He said that he is happy a UNLV. Y’all know what that means. (Dan to Meagan: I am going to go pray about this job offer, you call a real estate agent.)

But if I’m Mullen I’m going for the Arkansas job. I’d avoid Kentucky like the plague.
Only reason to go to either of those is money. He has plenty.

I think he wants to win first and foremost, so those 2 are likely out of the question.

Arkansas is hiring Petrino. That been the plan since he was hired as the OC
I think there's a good chance Arkansas is hiring Petrino, but it will be because they are stuck, not because they wanted to.
We’ll see. I don’t think it ends well for them if they do though. Mullen would be a much better hire.
Mullen would be a good fit at Arkansas or UK. And I think tha'ts the best they are going to do and probably the best he's going to do this year. Just can't see any blue blood paying huge buyouts to go after him. I think he'd probably be a fine hire for PSU otherwise. But you don't pay Franklin $46M to not coach to go hire Mullen. Not sure who you do that for though. Kelly would be a good fit for them but he suffers from the same problem. PSU and LSU should have agreed to trade coaches and saved a lot of headache and uncertainty regarding buyout costs.

I think Mullen could do well at either UK or Arkansas, but is he really a step up over Stoops? To me, Mullen is the offensive version of Stoops. I don't think Mullen can get a better job than a UK or Arkansas this year. He's a good coach, but he was out of the game for a while and it completely changed. Is he willing to work the portal and NIL like he would need to do to be successful in the SEC or Big 10? Maybe he still has that fire to be successful in the SEC or Big 10, but I'm not sold on it.

FWIW, a state-wide radio host in Kentucky said on his show today to watch out for Mullen to UK.
Lexington’s a great spot, and yeah, it puts him closer to his lake house (if he still has it). But honestly, I don’t see why he’d bail for Kentucky or Arkansas. He’s got it made where he is — he can win with little pressure, there’s no state income tax, big money backing, great city, and solid schools for his kids. No reason to jump into the SEC meat grinder just to be middle of the pack at a lower-tier program.

If Arkansas misses on James Franklin, its a big miss I watched what he did at Vanderbilt and was impressed.
