Mullen and Stricklin said some interesting things in Ellisville today

Stricklin hit on several things that have started since Mullen took over; no expansion plans even on the drawing board, fan base was stagnant, etc.. .. Pointed out the obvious that Bulldog fans are happy right now and bear fans are not.....usual stuff. But did talk about the work toward showing the fanbase how much they are appreciated and providing great game experiences at all games from volleyball to football.

Mullen talked about getting to kids from age 10 and up and getting them hooked on State. Said a UM grad who was a high school coach told him that State shirts, flags, tags, were everywhere and that he (Mullen) and State were outpacing everybody else in marketing their school. The most interesting comments were to tell fans not to pat the football players on the back between now and the fall but to ask them if they were serious about establishing a winning program and attitude. He said all of them needed a kick in the pants and not a lot more praise. He said that to do that would wipe out the gains of the last two years. He said that the QB spot was open and that going into the fall the job would go to the guy that wanted it the most and who earned it.

Jimmy Abram spoke for a few minutes and said they expected around 800 new students this fall to bring enrollment to 20,500. Said the goal of 22,500 by 2015 would most likely be passed much sooner and that plans were being made for a classroom only building near the center of campus because once enrollment reached 21,500 we would have no classroom space left.

All in all good news for the bookfarmers at The People's University.......

and the results were: "This is a hard and fast warning to you, Chris Ralph. Stay away from the hashish, brother. And get your *** away from the training table and get serious, you lazy *** MFer."

Mullen also answered a question about Nick Griffith. Said the injury set him back pretty good. Said he was bigger than Ballard and faster than Perkins and they were counting on him for this fall. Said Oct 1 was official return date but could be sooner or later depending on rehab. Said as of now, could be sooner.

Back to Ralph, he said that Russell was pushing Ralph and Farve was pushing them both. Also said that Prescott was picking things up very fast and getting bigger, stronger, and better sooner than anticipated. Mum on redshirt or not for Prescott.

as much as it does to any other position on the team. Mullen is going to reward hard work and dedication, period. You will get in his doghouse in a hurry if you slack off no matter what you play or whereyou finished the spring in the pecking order. This philosophy not only applies to players it also applies to coaches which explains why he has been described as "Little Saban". He obviously can be quite a prick, but frankly I love the guy andI believe he haswhat it takes to win in a conference like the SEC. Nice guys have a hard time surviving long termin our conference.

I don't think it has that much to do with talent in Mullen's mind. It has more to do with maturity and the growth of the program. Dak wasn't brought in to be the MSU QB in 2011. Give him a redshirt year to get into the program, grow, get bigger, faster, stronger. To jump someone up their freshmans year just leaves us with a gap later down the line. I hope Dak makes it incredibly painful for Dan to hand him that redshirt, but he will hand it to him.

many times for incoming recruits

1st year ...redshirt and develop
2nd year ..special teams and provide depth
etc

i know this don't work for every single recruit, but he doesn't seem to be blowing smoke
and with his first full class he reshirted about 17

And only 11k student tickets (that sold out in a day last year).

Screw the 5-7k expansion in a couple of years. The students need at least 5000 more tickets themselves.

I think the expansion needs to be at least 10k.

pay, the stands should be full every game. To just start adding seats because students grab tickets up, come for a half and then head back to the frat/sorority house doesn't make a lot of sense. Being the parent of a student now that loves to go as much as I do, I gotta love the price. But just to throw up a bunch of seats because there was a run on them last year at that price doesn't sell me on the idea. For the waiting list people paying full price, absolutely add as many as needed though.

that's the way Mullen wants it but its certainly on a case by case basis. For example, at DE for this year we need some immediate help. If the guy from south Florida that came to school in January and went through spring is able to help at all this Fall, he will play.

A lot of students don't care at all about sports and a lot more only casually care. 11,000 student tickets for 20,000+ students isn't bad, especially at the price they pay (although they do also pay the mandatory activity fee that somewhat subsidizes the low ticket price).
