When he called our overtime at home against La Tech in 2011, "one of the greatest wins in the history of Mississippi State football."

I remember thinking at that time that we would never be a big time program with him as the coach if beating La Tech in overtime was so great. Looks like I was right.

Are you man enough to admit that you just made up a "quote" out of thin air? Haha, of course you aren't.

Mullen's official quotes on the Louisiana Tech game:
Opening Statement:
“That was a hard-fought football game. I want to give Louisiana Tech a lot of credit; I think their kids played really hard and executed well. They had a true freshman quarterback come into a tough environment and go 29-for-40, and you have to give them credit for that. I also give our guys credit. They kept playing, fighting for four quarters and beyond, and when we needed to make a play, we made a play.”
On Chris Relf’s performance tonight:
“I don’t think Chris played his best game tonight at all, but I give him credit. He stayed in there, under pressure, and threw the game-winning touchdown pass in overtime. Fifteen years from now, people are going to remember the game-winning touchdown in overtime, not the others ones.”
On special teams:
“I thought our coverage team played well. That was a well-played special teams game. Their punter was booming the ball all night long, and our guys made some plays on special teams.”

Or are you claiming he told it to you personally or something?

No. He said it on the post game radio interview with Jim.

The four of us in the car together all said, "Did he really just say that?"

Andy wins POV........... Takes down Amanda........Andy goes up in her place.

I am extremely skeptical of that. Mostly likely you misheard or it's just a false memory.

I checked the SPS threads from that day, and there was no thread about it. A statement like that would have definitely gotten a thread.

That LA Tech team is probably the 3rd best team Mullen has beat.

1) 2009 OM
2) 2010 UF
3) 2011 La Tech

It's a mistake to assume Mullen is a happy-go-lucky dubmass who really expects to achieve all the things he proclaims to believe we can accomplish. He knows damn well our fan base better be happy with an OT win over La. Tech and, on some level, he has to promote that.

He can't give a Bear-Bryant-esque, "Well, we were damn lucky to get out of that one," poor mouth his own coaching then go out and whip Georgia the next Saturday, mainly because he can't go out and whip Georgia the next Saturday.
