Mullen most likely to succeed.

Just direct me to the thread if this has already been discussed.

But, there was a poll on during the game Saturday...It was something like "Who is mostly likely to be successful in year 2 of their current job?" And Mullen was absolutely running away with it.

Now, I hope he is. But, he was whipping Houston Nutt and a few others -- and I am trying to ask myself why a regional audience thinks that? Is it simply because the sample was skewed by having the poll on an MSU game?

Yes, but Nutt shouldn't have even been on there based off the wording in the poll. "first or 2nd year coach in the SEC"... He's been in the SEC for over a Decade

I'm sure many of you also noticed that during the Auburn game they had a similar poll question asking who was the greatest running back in SEC history. Bo Jackson won by a pretty large margin, obviously because of the amount of Auburn fans watching. I'm not saying that Bo wasn't one of the greatest, I'm just saying it wasn't the best poll question for an Auburn game. I mean you gotta think Hershel Walker comes out on top of the conversation in a normal poll.

in SEC history, but I'd vote for Bo, too (your point about what fans responded to the poll is valid). Fastest guy to the line of scrimmage I ever saw.

Bo doesnt have the numbers because he spent a couple of years in the wishbone with 2 other NFL backs. Walker was the a great I tailback, but couldnt make very good side to side cuts. Bo was better than Walker.

but at the one yard line down 6, I'd want Walker dotting the I.

and once again I agree with Coarch (does that make me a dubmass?). If you could find a video of the 85 Aub-GaTech game, you'd see what I was talking about. GT would hit Bo (or at least it seemed to me) immediately. Then it'd be 2nd & 5. Don't hold the 84 "wrong-way Bo" run against him (Pat Dye supposedly called a play where the QB had to audible the play on which way to go in the Alabama endzone). And that's why Rory Turner 'waxed the dude'. If you don't get that reference, then apparently you weren't around in the 80's.

Edited to say, does anyone remember when UG was going for a 3rd & short (or something like that) against UM around the 10 yard line and Herschel vaulted over the top, got hit, and landed on his feet & ran into the endzone? That was one of the most awesome plays I ever saw.

That's was sort of what I was thinking. Bo was probably the best athlete to ever play in the SEC, but Walker was the better running back.

I just think Jackson was the better runner. Jawja fed Walker play after play and he had some great lineman upfront. He was a bruising back, no doubt.

Bo and Herschel are 1 and 1a. Like Coach said, Bo's stats are lessened by playing in the wishbone and playing with 2 other great RB's. If he'd been in the I like Walker, his stats would've been right up there.

Either way, you're talking about two incredible talents.

That poll was only asked on the msu/vandy telecast so people watching that game and voting were mostly msu fans

...who needs to juke anybody when they can do what he does at 00:28 in this video?

Also, check out the speed as he out runs three dudes with pretty decent angles at 1:05.

Good quote in the comments:

"When a female sports reporter was interviewing him in college and asked him how tiring it was to carry the ball 30 times per game, Herschel just said 'The ball ain't heavy.'"</p>

Yea, and if you were to post that poll on ESPN.com, Bo and Herschel would probably have a very close vote. They posted it during the Auburn-MSU game though and Bo Jackson had something like 80% of the vote. It's not that clear of a vote, and that was the point. That poll skewed to Bo Jackson by an overwhelming margin because of the viewing audience.
