We all know that OM will have a great class, maybe they are paying some players, but I think most of the core reason for their success this year had to do with connections with the exact right prospects. However, because of those fortunate connections, I don't think they can maintain this in coming years. However, no matter how good their connections are this year, Mullen must hold serve. Every program comes to a cross roads, and, while it is not a game, in many ways I believe this could be Mullen's. Many times in the course of State's history we have seen a new coach win at first, only later to see the bottom fall out. Is Chris Jones a great player? Yes. Does one player, outside of a QB, completely determine whether a team wins or not? No. Yet, in this case, it is about the principle of the whole thing. If Mullen loses this recruiting battle, that we have so heavily dominated, what does that say about Mullen's ability to keep this program going in the right direction for long haul? However, if Mullen does win this battle, then we will all be able to take solice in the fact that in OM's most perfect recruiting year in modern history, we were still able to hold serve and live to fight another day. If Mullen wins this battle, we send a statement that we aren't going any where and our program will continue to improve. This is a, maybe the, defining moment in Mullen's tenure to this point. Make no mistake about it.
