Can you really put politics aside ? Him supporting rutgers is a political move like every move he makes

And no.

It's interesting then because at least in my time most governors, certainly his predecessor, seemed to think NOT supporting Rutgers politically benefited them. That or they didn't give a crap.

We literally had the last guy call a conference foe's head coach and solicit advice on shuttering the program completely.

Meanwhile Murphy put millions into upgrades and we have grown "men" crying about it.

Murphy's support is not only going to help RU but it's going to back every future gov into a corner. Because it will set the tone against anyone trying to attack RU or diminish our funding.

The fact that they can't celebrate that, nor celebrate a former RU football player scoring a TD in the Super Bowl, is just gross. And a very bad reflection on whatever ties they claim to RU.

Like him giving lip service to those democratic politicians calling for oversite of RU spending ( sports) and geez every time he comes to a game we lose.

Also, by the way, construction work at RU has an awfully lot to do with satisfying the construction industry in NJ rather than supporting RU sports.

Not true. Murphy has been at games where Rutgers won.Its important that Murphy and Hobbs have a good personal relationship.

Of course we want him to have a great relationship with Hobbs. But if you think he would protect RU when attacked by fellow politicians you're naive. He's done that already. Sided with our detractors.

You can put the other politics aside. Being pro-RU I think is something most of the board can agree on.
Hey Plum - regardless of your political leanings, would you rather have a governer who shows up at the RAC in Notre Dame gear and is Jerry Jones' frequent guest at the owner's box at the Cowboys House that Jerry Built?

Because those things really happened.

Plainly false.

One governor gave us hundreds of millions to improve academics and athletics.

His predecessor reduced funding to 90s levels, cried that GS was hired and attempted to shuttler MBB entirely.

Only a hopeless partisan would prefer the latter.

How about football in Delaware gear too. Tried to close MBB entirely. Whined GS was hired even after he left office.

12% approval in retrospect was high.

Blaming Murphy for us losing games is the big brain content I come here for
Well ,if you really think I'm blaming him for RU loses, you don't have a brain . But certainly someone that has a brain can resonanably blame Murphy for a lot of bad ****. He deserves it.

Might as well share your grievances with the 80% of this board that was also at those games.

Thread is about the benefits RU has reaped during his tenure. You’re actively choosing to complain based on other non-relevant gripes you have, because there’s no way you can possibly say he’s been worse for RU athletics than any governor in at least 40 years.
