I'd rather we follow the BS "responsible" rule, rather than have our bells totally banned, which is still an SEC option.

Without that, I'd rather be ringing from the kickoff whistle, until 0:00 in the 4th.
Like we did when I was in school.

ringing the damn thing...I mean actually watched him for a long time..it was like a 17ing mantra and it turned into a vision of comedy relief...I have one but it just sets there like it has for years..all decorated out and beaten up...it was from my youth.

I don't get it, even with the bells we are not in the top 5 loudest stadiums in the SEC. We are the smallest stadium other than Vandy, and the only ones I see griping are the ones you are scared about us kicking their butts. If we go to Alabama or LSU should they make their fans pipe down a little. Our bells are just an equalizer in the world of the lil guys vs the mega stadium guys in the SEC.

That is what I meant by option 3. I think they can be cool but the %#**+#% IQ of some of our douchebag fans makes it not worth it. I'm ready for the bells to become tailgate decorations.

I love the tradition, but I really don't think cowbells are relevant in this day and age. About all they do is give the losing team (e.g., Wake Forest) something to gripe about even though they would have lost the game anyway. Even I, as a longtime MSU fan and alumnus, find the things irritating after a while.

the cowbells. I talked to three Wake fans yesterday coming back from the game. Nice talk about the game and the schools and basketball. Then I asked them about the cowbells. The one guys face lit up and he said "I have NEVER seen anything like it." I can promise you this guy will never forget about his 2011 Music City Bowl experience against MSU. To me that means the cowbells help MSU stand out amongst the crowd. MORE COWBELL!!!!

and it was deafening on Wake's final drive. That's with only the lower bowl completely filled (80 percent of which were State fans) and in an open air stadium where sound travels out.<div>
</div><div>For all my poking fun and criticism of the ridiculous line-splitting "responsible" campaign, that was the first time I've ever seen the bell noise as a total advantage. Wake's final drive was drowned out. That being said, I don't think Wake wins the game without cowbells, so whatever.</div>

We were in the end zone, a couple of sections from the band. Maroon stretched from the one corner of the stadium to the opposite corner. There was no "polite" ringing. When the music was on, it was like all the bells were in unison. It must have been an impressive sight for the WF fans.

It was every bit as bad as you say, and yes, it was an advantage. It will probably cause whichever bowl we go to next to disallow cowbells. I don't know why our fans can't follow simple instructions.
