Must say, watching Rutgers last possession made me angry.

Every time the play called for Rettig to hand the ball off, I cursed Flood for not having the balls to let the kid show his stuff. What a anal buffoon, and after Rettig came to the sideline when RU called a timeout after that great throw, you could see Flood say nice ball. If I was RETTIG I WOULD HAVE TOLD HIM TO GO PACK MEAT!!!

Heh? Rettig was 3-5 72 yrds, and they ran 5 times. If anything we should wonder why they didnt try this in the 3rd qtr. Or maybe be mad that we couldnt stop there 2nd string offense? But he got his chance to throw.

Laviano - 10 for 20 and a whole 117 yards NO TD's 1 INT., in 3 qtrs.
Rettig 3 for 5 and 72 yards, 1 TD no Int., in 1 qtr.(with nO Carroo).
And, Ohio States 2/3rd teams are better than almost all the teams we will play this year!

This is not even a debate anymore. Rettig deserves a shot! And, at this point in the year, why the heck not!? What exactly do we have to lose?

It would've just been more that Flood would have to explain away.
At this point I don't just put this lack of common knowledge on the footsteps of Flood. We have an Athletic Director who by all accounts is his boss. Demand he play Rettig! If not, charge insubordination, and fire the guy. No severance and no additional pay. End of story.

Where are you getting 3 of 5? I see 3 of 7 for his stats. And the first two throws into the end zone were terrible. And that was with NO BOSA!!!!

Look, I am not putting him down, but it is an applies and oranges comparison.

I have no objection to him playing and getting more time. I have said it before that he should have gotten time before last night.

The title of the the Thread is "the last possession" not Rettig's stats for the game......he was 3-5 on final drive, and 0-2 on the second to last drive...for a combined 3-7... I was simply noting that the OPs statement abount "only running" on the final possession is not accurate

So who would take the job? A high school coach? No one else would touch it.

Oh, I see, we can cherry pick the backup QB stats to fit the narrative, and pit pick the starting QBs stats to do the same. Got it. Some of you guys are hilarious.

I hope you are drunk.
Because if not it is as sad a post as we will ever see.

(That's a nice way to say it was stupid)

No not at all are you stupid? He was bitching about Rettig not getting a chance to throw on the final drive. I merely showed that he had 5 attempts to throw the ball. It was neither a statement supporting Rettig or Laviano...it was simply...he cant ***** he got his chance to throw. Read OP, he said all he did was handoff. Do you get it yet?

I did add he should have been given a chance earlier, and I fully acknowledged earlier he was 3-7 for "the game"' but this thread was about "our last possession" I did not choose the topic, I responded.

No need to resort to calling someone stupid because they can't follow your idiotic logic. Chrome chose to cherry pick the stats of the final drive versus Laviano's entire game---his post said nothing about the final drive and he compared 3/5 versus Laviano's whole game. Laviano had to throw away 3 or 4 passes because Joey Bosa was crawling up his ***, something Rettig did not have to deal with. I have said many times on this board that Rettig should have seen playing time in other games. Laviano made some good throws and some poor ones, just like Rettig. But like Norfolk State, it was an apples and oranges comparison. I'd like to see more of Rettig and have a better basis to compare.

This was the second team defense of the team that won the National Championship and was trying hard to keep the shutout. Let's not pretend they packed it in.
