The team did not play 100% the whole game. If they would have, we would have won by 21 points.
I’m extremely happy that we got a win. I hope Lebby isn’t as dumb as I think he is.

As bad as I dislike Lebby, he called a heck of a play on 4th and 4 and Evans broke the tackle to not only get the first down but the TD. What the hell was the booth looking at to review that? Were the trying to find something. No doubt on that TD!!! Hail State!!! Best I have felt since ASU game!!!!
Fact is, we've played 5 extremely close, one play changes everything games.
We were underdogs in all of them and we're 2-3 in those games.
That's not as terrible as so many on this board would have you believe.
This one was very important though, and that win was really needed.

You cannot sugar coat the Texas game into close loss. It was an epic collapse! State dieting lose because Texas is so much better and made the plays to win it. State, and more importantly, Lebby “lost” that game. Even average teams with rookie coaches do not blow 2 17 point leads. so don’t try to rationalize that as a lost to “the better team”.
They were the better team. Don’t try to say otherwise. We almost pulled the upset, and it would have been a huge upset.
Factually describing a game in the context of 4 other games is not trying to sugarcoat it. It's just describing it. It is a close loss that could have been a win with one play happening differently, just like the other 4.
Oh, and crazy **** like that happens all the time in football. We're not special or especially unlucky or incompetent.
I think (and hope) he's going to be a superstar.
But I think it's very likely we were in better hands with the senior, less talented, but far more experienced QB in that game down the stretch than with a guy who was quarterbacking for Noxubee County HIgh School last season.
We had a 17 point lead in the 4th. We didn’t almost pull the upset. We absolutely choked that game away.
They were due for a knock out, but Lebby overthought things and gave the game to Texas. To say they at better, while true, has to be qualified with the exact situation before both teams. The Lesser talented team had a chance to hammer the nail, but the more inexperienced of the two head coaches tripped over his misunderstanding of how to close out an upset win!
MSU won. All that matters. Enjoy it. It hasn’t happened much lately. It is what we all want, and have wanted. Quit crapping on it and just appreciate it.
Count me proudly among the "dubmasses" if that happens.
And a majority of this fan board seems to want the HC whose team has exceeded expectations in 8 of 9 games to be fired ASAP.
Maybe it's just the verbose minority.
I don’t bet on Mississippi State so my expectation is to win. They haven’t exceeded that in 8 of 9 games.
If you've been a State football fan for any period longer than the beginning of the Dan Mullen era and your expectation is wins, then you've missed something.
I am a fan and I like big wins and good seasons, but expecting them would make for a lot of disappointment. We've clearly had a better season than the majority thought we would this year. If that is disappointing, your just asking for disappointment.
I’ve been a fan for much longer than the Mullen era and I have been disappointed many more times than not.
