For St Louis. He went undrafted in 2012. He won the Conerly if I remember correctly. Good luck to him.

I'm really glad to see him doing so well in the NFL, having a bit of success and getting the starting spot. I'm tired of ole TSUN (and of course Alcorn) having the only NFL quarterbacks of note. Hope Davis outshines them all (until of course the 2016 draft when Dak goes).

The Saints draft Dak to replace Brees in a few years. Dak goes back to LA where he always shines. That be awesome!

Just hope he goes to an organization where he will have the best chance to succeed. Would love to see him in Denver...great organization.

I can verify first hand. Austin was a big MSU fan! As a recent alum at the time with some connections through business in Starkville (& my uncle's hierarchy within the alumni association), I emailed Stringer (recruiting coach), McCorvey, and Croom about his potential. No responses.. In their defense, he used a baseball scholarship for the fall to be an invited walk-on for football at Southern Miss. No hard feelings from him.. just wish he'd have been a Bulldog. The guy is a competitor.

Good QB and seems to be a great guy, I think he broke most of Farve's passing

records at USM but not sure.

Correct. My dad worked at West Lauderdale at the time and is friends with the Davis family. The story he got was that Croom just wasn't interested. I know he attended USM on a baseball scholarship but his heart was always in football. The fact that USM gave him an opportunity to make the football team is probably why he didn't go to State to play baseball as 2 of his HS teammates came to play here. But it all worked out for the best for him and I'm glad. Austin and his family are good people. And dawg007 described him to a T. He is a competitor.

fwiw, he has been the starter since week 2 against the bucs. been doing pretty damn well since then, especially considering he was actually cut less than a month before the season. proud of a good kid from a good family from meridian.

As a backup in game 1
vs Minnesota - 16/23 for 192 yds, 0 TD, 1 INT

As a starter
@ Tampa Bay - 22/29 for 235 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT
vs Dallas - 30/42 for 327 yds, 3 TD, 2 INT

They just announced that he's the starter for the rest of the season. He's not the fill-in guy because somebody's hurt. He's the guy.
