With apologies to ESPN's Mike Greenberg.

Everybody likes to toot their own horn when they are right. But what about when they're not.

Let's do this for fun regarding Seton Hall basketball.

My bad.

I noted that the Pirates would definitely blow out their first 3 opponents. I was wrong with Wagner who gave us a tough game losing by a score of 68-61.

Just having fun. I watched ESPN this morning and saw they had a good time with everyone poking fun at things they said about the NFL months ago. Why not do the same here? We have all posted thing that have not come to pass. I know I have.

Dan, let the season run for awhile. Certainly manner of our most over the top posts, predictions and analysis will turn out to be completely wrong. Who of us will own up!?

OK, I'll keep this up for anyone who wants to comment. But eventually this will go to page 2 and beyond. As the year progresses, probably around Xmas, I'll bump this up to page 1 again.

I’ll plan ahead.

In February SHU will have played themselves onto the bubble with some gutsy wins and disappointing losses. February will be fun to watch and every game meaningful.

That sounds like a “my bad”.

I remember touting to my UCONN buddies about our new "sniper" Harolds Karlis and boasted he was going to lights out. Fast forward to a game at the XL Center and Harolds couldn't hit anything, including airing out two threes. They never let me live it down. I also touted how Aaron Gerimpour was going to be a force down low. I was 0 for Canaris Academy predictions.

Four games in and a mixed bag against bad teams. Two easy wins and two closer ones that shouldn’t have.

I had thought it would be an uneven OOC, given the roster turnover and Sha’s style. Did not expect them to roll through the five opening games.

Hard to tell. I expected us to be 5-0 through the first 5 games against weak competition. I still think this team is much better than last year’s team. We will see in a few weeks.

Dual was a gigantic “my bad” for me last season. Ditto for Scottie M to an extent.

On the flip side, Dawes said “hold my beer” to me his senior year during conference play.

I expected our OOC to go exceedingly well given the competition. NC State is the first litmus test but even there you don’t want to go crazy one way or the other on a single early OOC game. Just look at VCU last year, or the opposite in 2023-2024 with USC/Iowa/Rutgers. I’ve said if we know anything concrete about this group before mid/late January it’s probably not good.

Through four Hines has been better than I thought. For someone who is a raw young talent, he is already effecting games on both ends. I didn’t expect that this early.

Games are typically a series of runs. The difference in wins and losses comes down to how a team responds to adversity (when they get punched in the mouth). I was encouraged that after a dreadful first half, they came out and responded after the intermission. That was missing against Wagner.
