Veterans Day Parade - 11/11/26

Good afternoon, everyone,

I hope all is well.

The Township of Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Department cordially invite you to our Annual Veterans Day Parade on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Participants will gather at the corner of Hoover Avenue and Broad Street, in front of Parkside Pizzeria. The parade will proceed south along Broad Street to the intersection of Broad Street and Pitt Street, where a brief ceremony will take place.

Immediately following the ceremony, a luncheon will be held at the Town Pub. Veterans and active-duty military personnel with proper military identification will be admitted free of charge. Non-veterans may attend for $20, payable in cash.

We encourage all veterans to join us and march in the parade. Family members, friends, and community residents are encouraged to line the sidewalks along Broad Street to show their support and help us honor those who have served our country.

This year's parade route has been selected to highlight our Hometown Hero Banners displayed along this section of Broad Street, recognizing the men and women who have served our nation.

We hope you will join us as we come together as a community to honor our veterans and recognize their service and sacrifice.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Congrats Dan, not sure why this weirdo @dehere23 is laughing at all your posts. This poster of ours he’s got the giggles. Likes to laugh.

I’ll look out for them next time I’m going to Gencarelli’s to get some sfogliatelle and sh*t for the guys

That’s awesome Dan. I’ll be in Bloomfield Friday, trick-or-treating with my grandkids so I’ll be looking for them. You should be proud of them. Greatest generation.

Was responding from my phone, and meant to hit the "love" emoji, not the laugh emjoi.

But thanks.

I've seen this sort of thing before, and I always think it's such a great way for towns to honor their people, while showing the younger folks (almost everyone!) who it was from town who came before them and helped make it all possible. That World War II generation was a different breed. Just incredible, their courage and integrity.

Agree with all posts above. I grew up in Raritan, NJ, home of Congressional Medal of Honor winner John Basilone. He won the medal on Guadalcanal and was killed in Iwo Jima. After winning the medal he could have stayed on the war bonds tour but he wanted to be an active marine. It was truly the greatest generation. I honor all your fathers who served.

Very nice tribute for the men who served our country with honor.
My dad was a Captain in the Navy and I had an uncle in the Army who was killed in Italy, received the Medal of Honor and Georgetown named a yearly sports award for a graduating Senior after him, which one of my cousins won.

My Father and Father-in-Law both served during WW2 . My Father-in-Law went from landing at Normandy to marching and fighting in France, Belgium( Battle of the Bulge) and Germany . After landing at Normandy he went behind German lines to rescue a paratrooper, lived in a hole in the ground for days during the Battle of the Bulge, and came across concentration camp survivors . Hardly spoke about what he went through but my wife remembers him waking in the night and yelling .

Both my grandfathers served in ww2. My mom’s dad was Signal Corp and served locally at Ft Monmouth and did not go overseas but he was part of the group that invented radar. My dad’s dad was in North Africa and Italy. He got a bronze star for repairing telco lines under enemy fire. The medals were lost somewhere along the line. I keep meaning to look into getting them reissued as his descendant I know there’s a few forms to fill out to get that done that I just haven’t gotten around to.

My uncle fought in General Patton's 3rd Army in that last year of the war. He saw and experienced some brutal combat and liberated concentration camps. He never talked about it until, slowing down in his 80s, his hidden symptoms of PTSD became unbearable. After some good therapy, he wrote a book about it. His Jewish therapist had him come to her synogogue and talk about his experiences, especially the liberation of the concentration camps. He died at 98, two years ago. He just a teenager when he fought. Our men suffered many privations and extreme cold to win that war.
