I figure if I'm gonna make my first post, I'm gonna be ballsy. Why so many saints fans? Ever since Archie went there, it seems like the Saints have had every UM player that was NFL worthy(-Eli).Perhaps my UM hatred runs slightly deeper than others, but sinceI have no personal allegiance to an NFL team, I tend to follow theones with players I like: Jerious, Smoot, and even Favre. I do like Brees a little though.

Once they get to the NFL its not about the college....

No, id never wear anything with Archie or Deuce's number on it...

But I didnt drop the Saints as my team when Dulymus was drafted..and i sure didnt become a falcons fan when Norwood was drafted by them.

If you cant separate the two, then you just arent ready to appreciate the NFL.

I guess that's it. I consider myself a college football fan first and an NFL fan only when I'm watching MSU players or following a fantasy league. It must be my upbringing. Dad always considered the Saints as Ole Miss Two Electric Boogaloo.

True. There are noteworthy OM players that have gone to other NFL teams. I'm just saying that there has been a notable trend of OM players to the Saints. No hate here. I just thought it was worth asking.

MSU players that were Saints- James Williams, Willie Evans, Patrick Swoopes, Micheal Simmons, and Jesse Anderson were all Saints at one time or the other. I already mentioned Croom.

Also, I think Ryan Hollern is on the current Saints staff in the front office, and he was a recruiting coordinator under Croom or some other title I can't remember.

I would like to see Smoot as a Saint. He would probably have his own Krewe and Mardi Gras parade if he played there. Maybe they'll draft Dixon, but I doubt it.

If Dixon and McCluster ever made it onto the same NFL team, that would be my new team. I don't hate the saints. I just never liked that since I grew up in Mississippi I HAVE to be a saints fan. I feel the same way about the Braves. They're not in the same state as me. They don't have anybody I really have a reason to root for.

Also, I laughed first time I read DawgStudent's tagline. I always said that I couldn't be a Saints fan and an MSU fan. My poor heart just couldn't take it.

There is also the underdog factor. Everybody loves an underdog. The Saints are not underdogs THIS year, but they have been for nearly all of their existence.

Then there's the Katrina factor. New Orleans was as close to unrecoverable destruction as any American city ever has been. And they're bouncing back. The Saints are a symbol of all that.

Well, the "chocolate city" comments from the mayorupset many people who loved the city and teamand didn't view race as having anything to do with the tragedy. I still donated during Katrina though.</p>
