So are opt outs the reason why the east has 5 byes, while the west only has 1? That seems unfair.

Yes. I don’t like it. They shouldn’t treat 1A like they do the rest of the divisions. There aren’t enough teams.

I'm looking at Perquimans again in round 3.
I just don't see why people would feel some type of way just because Tarboro are better than the teams that they have to face. Can't hold that against them. Isn't that the goal? lol. To say they have it easy is throwing shade at them for making sure that they are the best team in the region. It's not that the other teams are all bad. It's just that Tarboro has made its way to the top and have worked to stay there. And more often than not, they defeat the best of the west, proving that they are just...better...than other teams. They don't have it easy. They just make it look easy. No different than Reidsville or Shelby. They roll through the playoffs every year too without being challanged.

Perquimans has my attention for sure especially if their QB is healthy. They came into tarboro and dropped 40 on us. Man people have hated on tarboro for years I'm almost to the point of not arguing anymore about lol. Tarboro stays on top because of a top notch coaching staff and players who work hard year round to be great. Heck the players start competing at a very young age look at the Lil vikes program for example. Tarboro spent 16 seasons in 2a and played in 6 2a state title games beating plenty of top notch competition. Tarboro haters usually forget that lol.

Their last five years in 2a were five consecutive trips to the title game. 9 title games in 13 seasons, five were 2a. I’m pretty sure we’ve beat some good teams somewhere in that span. One being northeastern in 2012, the team James Davis is a fan of .

And in each one of those five years we were picked to lose to at least one team in the playoffs that year. 2009 it was East bladen, 2010 it was East duplin and then Carver in the state title game. 2011 the whole playoff run lol and 2012 northeastern.

I think i read where their QB was done for the season. If not i don't think the coaching staff will go into that game without a major plan to corral him.

They have a good team. Only loss was a close one to Cummings I believe tarboro will face them in the regional finals. That drive home for then is gonna be tough but it's NOTHING compared to some drives other schools have had over the years. Like when Salisbury was in the east back in 2019.

I was not at the the game I was told Pender just ran out of gas. I know they are well coached and are very explosive on offense, the loss to South Columbus was fluke. Pender was missing some key players that game. I think they will cruise 1st 2 rounds. I also think they are capable of beating NS Pinetown whom I have seen play.

Anyone have info on Southside? Looks like they completely turned their program around almost overnight.

The Cam Thomas days lol. We played some close games back then. There were 19 of us that graduated that year. We were some big boys. Played together since middle school. Some good times!

I actually remember watching Cam Thomas play basketball in the Courier-Tribune. The crowd would go crazy when he dunked.
