My problem with stadium reseating and TTF

Is anybody else's BC rank still falling? Mine fell 3 more spots over night and has fallen about 15 spots since the second week in March. I thought the ranks were supposed to freeze around the 1st week of March. I don't understand how people are still passing me up.

Yeah, let me rephrase that. I felt that the point in that this reseating process might very well result in people losing their existing seats had been made very clear on multiple occasions. In terms of the the communication surrounding which groups get to pick first and all of that, however, I 110% agree that it has been a bit of a cluster.

When I saw the first post on here last week about a selection time being assigned, I just about had a heart attack because I knew that I was going to be completely tied up this week, and I most likely would not be available to choose my seats at any point. Luckily, I later found out that this week was only for the Club and Scoreboard people so everything turned out ok, but this really could have been communicated better.

Seriously, I feel like this could have all been easily avoided by the BC sending out a simple letter to all season ticket holders around two weeks ago that included an estimated selection timeline. Saying that the entire process will take place in Mar/Apr is not good enough. They should have sent a timeline that clearly outlined how groups were prioritized, when each group would be receiving its selection times, and which weeks the actual selection times were estimated to take place. Do that, and I think that 99% of this confusion would have been avoided.

Any movement in your rank since March 3, i.e. when ranks were frozen for reseating purposes, has nothing do to with the current reseating process. Ranks continue to adjust nightly as people pledge and/or pay their pledges, just like they always have. However, I doubt ranks matter again until people line up for CWS tickets (fingers crossed), at the earliest.

Take a deep breath, if you know what your rank was when you woke up on March 4, that is what is being utilized now.

Curious as to what criteria you used in choosing in the Scoreboard Club, I know that I wont have as many options, but with no history and it not built, was looking to see how you chose.

Years ago I received a thank you note from Charles Mitchell...

The Business College is probably like the College of Engineering, and I'm pretty sure they use students to make the calls for academic donations. It happens about this time every year. They sound like students anyway, and I think they may have even told me they were students. I got a nice thank you note from a female engineering student just a few days ago thanking me for supporting the engineering scholarships. It's probably a requirement of the scholarship that the holders send thank you notes to the donors.

Most likely, the BDC doesn't have students that work for free that they can require to make membership calls, and the employees don't do it. And I don't recall ever getting a thank you note from a football player or coach ....

But he never wrote me again.

Didn't new CL people have to come up with $12k just to get in? I wonder

what happened with them. I think the $12k was payable over 5 years, so they would still be paying on that.

At the time, I thought that was crazy money just to get into the CL in addition to paying the $1500 per seat to sit in the CL. Now we have people paying $25k over and above the $1750 per seat donation for better seats.

My not so bad rant:

I'm around #580 in priority (was around #500 before the reseating rush) and I have no problem being pushed towards the endzone by people ranking ahead of me. I figured I my seats at the club level 30 yard line were better than some ranked better than me because I got in the CL at the start. So maybe I benefitted for several years by there not being a reseating years ago.

I just hope that there were not too many with a worse BDC ranking using the TTF to push me to the end.

However, if I give up my CL seats it won't be because I'm angry or pissed off. It will simply be that my 5-10 yard seats aren't good enough to justify the $$$. I've been considering giving up the CL for a year anyway and almost didn't renew for 2013. My football crazy son sits with the MSU students now and it's not the same without him there.

That's a very good question. In order to get a 4th club level seat last year (during the season) with our pre-existing 3, I had to pledge 12k over 5 years to the TTF fund. That seemed kind of crazy for one more seat.

The only anger I have is not being told the truth about the reseating process, i.e., existing CL people would have first choice of seats. Now I don't know how letting TTF folks be first on the bus affected my seats, but it was probably at least one section (and no, I have no proof of that assertion ... it's just a guess).

But like you, I thought the cost of my 35 yard line seats, with a back on them, were marginally worth what amounts to about $300 per person per game. I'll admit to liking the amenities, but there's a limit to that.

This year my seats on the -5 will cost about 10% more, right at $330 each. There's much less value there, especially when someone 15 feet away me in the grandstand gets basically the same game view for $63 per person per game and could have 50 yard line seats for the same $63 if they were lucky enough.

Since you already had 3 seats, how can you add a fourth without moving, or without someone else moving to make room for you? You can't just squeeze in since they are real seats instead of bleachers where squeezing may be possible.

I know some people near me added a couple of babies over the past couple of years, but they didn't have to move. Does the child have to pay for a seat, but not really get one and have to be held?

Rocket - We were in Sec 125 where there were a number of unsold seats last year apparently. They moved us slightly so that we then had the 4 together.

This year supposed to be in Sec 119. Eight years of paying CL prices to sit behind the jumbotron was enough.

Well, I've been paying CL prices for 13 years (I think it opened in 2001), and have been a member of the BDC and bought season tickets for 19 consecutive years (since 1995), and I'm on the -5 this year. I'm hoping the new video board will be operational.

You may have paid more total than me though ... you had 3 seats for 8 years, and had to pay the initiation fee for your 4th seat, whereas I only have 2 seats and was grandfathered on the extra fee for those.
