My question about John Brantley

Why is he treated as such a victim because he played under Urban Meyer's spread offense? Did he not realize what kind of offense he was running when he committed there? Every week, its all about how he hopes to finally break free under Charlie Weis' offense that fits him so well. Why can no one say "Well, what was he thinking when he committed there? Why did he not go somewhere that better suited him?"<div>
</div><div>Also, how is that diverse Charlie Weis offense working for UF this year?</div>

How come no one thinks that it isn't the system- maybe Brantley just sucks.

I'm sure some NFL team will probably waste a first round pick on him.

I always thought Meyer/Mullen signed him thinking they would change their offense to the 2 qb system with he and another running QB. However, when he got there, they had to realize that he just wasn't very good so they committed to try to get all they could out of him. I have never been impressed with him. He's an avg passer with no other skills

who also happened to be one of the top rated QB's in high school. At the very least he grew up a Florida fan and always wanted to go there. He has always fit a pro-style system better, but if they didn't go after him at the time, there would have been some very unhappy Bull Gators. I don't think it would have gotten Urban fired or anything like that, but it certainly wouldn't have gone over very well.

i thought i read where brantley played private school ball against bad competition. not hating on private school players, i was one of them, but it definitely is harder to judge talent when it's a bunch of white boys who run 4.8's out there.
