I'm so glad I have Shelby on IGNORE.Hey clueless. Why don’t you tell us all when Rutgers covered the spread in 3 straight games ? By a lot ? When have you seen a Rutgers team reverse momentum on a dime and dominate the fourth quarter before and pull away? 2 weeks in a row ? When have you seen a Rutgers team dominate first halves with time of possession and defense like this ? You simpleton , yes the third quarter looked rough but how about the rest of the game. How about commenting about our score with 4 seconds to go in the half even though we were getting the ball to start second half ? Were you impressed ?
Or do you just post clueless crap on this board and the basketball board. You are the most pathetic fan any team has to endure. Go root for another team because you are toxic and have very little sports IQ.
Ha ha Mr IQ guy. You care about covering the spread. Is there a Top 25 Against the Spread poll I should pay attention to ? Because alI I care about is being competitive in the conference. Silly me I guess.Hey clueless. Why don’t you tell us all when Rutgers covered the spread in 3 straight games ? By a lot ? Just stop posting because it is comical . You cannot answer any of the simple questions I asked you ? Why is that simpleton ? Just take your posting elsewhere. You are embarrassment to our loyal fan base that has been through hell . You add zero to any thread. Put the keyboard down and go get some milk and cookies. You will probably feel better.Ha ha Mr IQ guy. You care about covering the spread. Is there a Top 25 Against the Spread poll I should pay attention to ? Well that is complicated. We technically run a 3-3 even front with a walk up edge rushing hybrid player who has rush/contain/RB responsibilities. We started to drop Flip down into the box but that resulted in us getting beat vertically a bit.Puzzled by no adjustment to stop QB run up the middle. I know our base defense is now 2 linebackers but maybe going to 3/4 would have been the move (or putting someone following the QB).
Perfect list of take-aways from that game.1. We got beat vertically more than I was comfortable with. We play a very aggressive style of defense, and we got beat in man zero and man free a few times. Need to be better there.
2. We badly need a WR or TE to prove they can get vertical. We have 1 who can right now, and they man pressed him and shaded the safety over.
3. GW is close to being a really good QB. He extended some plays today and then just barely missed the throws. He also is learning how to run very well.
4. We run the ball well, and call the run well. We schemed our way to running through 8+ in the box. Our last TD was run against 10 in the box. I loved seeing us in Ace (two TE single back). Very hard formation to defend. Our YPC was phenomenal.
5. KM runs really, really well. His vision is special. Needs better hands out of the backfield.
6. Not sure if we decided to not adjust to the QB rushes, or we struggled against that. That has to get fixed going forward.
7. Thought play calling on pass plays was solid, we just did not hit on a bunch of open looks.
8. We recorded 4 sacks but we missed quite a few opportunities to put the QB on the ground. Can not give the other team opportunities.
I agree with this as Schiano was never a good clock management guy. Maybe he was not used to having 3 timeouts left with less than 2 minutes. He usually burns a timeout or two much earlier in a game.Perfect list of take-aways from that game.
I see the comments about Schiano being too conservative. I usually place such comments in the realm of, well, we don't know how many games he wins with that, but we do all suspect we know games where we lost or nearly lost because of that.
This is now, IMHO, two games in a row where GS mismanaged the clock while having the ball at the end of the first half. Yesterday's game was the worse of the two despite getting the perfect end-result.. scoring a TD with almost no time on the clock. GS had 3 timeouts in his pocket.. had the ball at midfield to start with about 2 minutes left and worked the clock down to 23 seconds with keeping all three timeouts and seeming having little chance to score save for a possible FG attempt.
Yes.. major concern why this was not addressed after multiple successful runs on the same played call by VT. QB delayed run straight up the middle.Puzzled by no adjustment to stop QB run up the middle. Usually that was because the the former OC couldn't get the G** d*** play in on time!!!!I agree with this as Schiano was never a good clock management guy. Maybe he was not used to having 3 timeouts left with less than 2 minutes. He usually burns a timeout or two much earlier in a game.

Was one of the things that used to drive me crazy. RU calling a time out or taking a delay of game penalty after something like a quarter end, kick off recieve etc. We didn't know WTF we wanted to do after a game stop or a commercial break? I used to go nuts and people looked at me like I was crazy.I agree with this as Schiano was never a good clock management guy. THIS!!! Soooo underrated. You guys are too hard on Gavin. His moving around the pocket to escape sacks is incredible. With a pocket passer we’d have 5 sacks a game or worse. So under-appreciated.

And I thought he had cracked a rib... In the least game he got crushed on a play.. came back and dove for a ball on teh sideline exposing his body to more abuse... now that's a football player.Watching the game again today, just want to give shoutout to Chris Dremel. He doesn’t get much mention, but quietly played a great game. Sneaky receiver that is able to get free and become an outlet for Gavin. Watching his TD, he plays heads up and aware where he is. Great swivel to get TD inspite of Line Judge who made bad spots all game long
In general I agree with you. I would have called a timeout earlier rather than running down into the 30s. I'd rather leave 20 seconds on the clock vs losing a chance to score. In the end it worked out.I don’t know. I thought everything we did in that last drive of the first half was pretty good. We didn’t want to give VTech any time to make a play on offense again for another series. I understand your point - if that review concluded we didn’t get into the end zone then we are at risk of not having time to run another play for a TD and still guarantee time for a FG snap. But the way we were moving the ball there, I don’t think you want to disrupt game flow. In terms of leaving more time before that when VTech had the ball - that’s just not how Schiano wants to play. His top priority was making sure our possession would be the last one of the half.
It’s hard to criticize with the way the half ended.
That might explain why we don't see screen passes. It’s a good point. To me, the biggest criticism of Gavin’s game to focus on right now is his trouble taking the zip off the ball for the short routes. His lower completion percentage reflects us not designing many short route plays because of this. Short routes should be lower risk but if he can’t tone down the line drives the risk of tips goes up a ton in close. This seems like something that’s fixable. It seems like Kirk chose to focus on decision making first (learning to throw ball away when in trouble, learning to take off and run) and not dump too much on Gavin all at once which has worked ok so far. I get this. If we had him thinking about when to adjust his throw too some of the game speed issues from last year could creep up.
We saw the issue on the shorter line drive throw to Kyle though. Eventually we will have to mix in more shorts but we do have another 2 weeks to work on that following Michigan.
BEAT LSU.. brian kelly cannot lose enough for me.Count your blessings! Rutgers is undefeated! Rutgers has a better record than Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, Arkansas, Florida, and Tennessee.
THAT we are undefeated is welcome news and doesn’t mean we are going to stay that way BUT, that football bounces funny every day. Anything and everything is possible is college football. Just one of many reasons i love it so much.
On to the next victim!

You know.. in that video of all his throws from the Temple game I thought I noticed something interesting. I had (mildly) criticized him for not stepping into his throws.. which, I think, would make him more accurate on longer routes.. more consistently accurate. What I thought I saw in that video was that his footwork is consistent, if not ideal. GW seems to pivot on his left foot and kicks his right heel up.. almost like a 2nd basement trying to turn a double play. Very open stance to his throws.. which needs "width".. which is hard to come by in a collapsing pocket.
Now, I appreciate the consistent motion.. that helps.. but perhaps that is why he cannot control "touch" on his throws.. his motion doesn't allow for it.
I've noticed he leans back right before the snap.3 thoughts. Even GW’s misses are better. We are ran what looked like a corner flat vs cover two. He hit this in an early game and while it was incomplete it was off by two inches and right on time into a tight window. GW starts moving back on pass plays right at the snap. Not sure if D’s can key on this but would be awesome to add a wrinkle (draw/delay) that leverages this “tell”. Johny is REALLY blocking well. Two of the TD runs he was the key block. On one he gets into two guys (second was part of combo).
As poorly as the Hogs played against BYU last week, I imagine LSU is going to take out their frustrations against Arkansas this week. Plus it is a night game at LSU. Their fans will be drunk and obnoxious; but I repeat myself. LSU 35, Arkansas 10.BEAT LSU.. brian kelly cannot lose enough for me.
Yes tips his play but running much better and knowing when to throw the ball away. He was 7-16 for 46 yds hard to say he’s getting better when he doesn’t read Defenses well, and ALWAYS throws to his first look. He’s pre determined with the ball and route before the snap. The game does look like it’s slowed down a little but any success will come from learning route progressions and throwing options.I've noticed he leans back right before the snap.
Absolutely very misleading and why? We run the ball the same as a team like Iowa does. There is a reason for that and passing game will improve as the WR group improves. Our D and its potential needs to continue being stout. Gavin has most likely been told to get the ball out quickly. I can go back to Rutgers quarterbacks since the late 70’s … this same narrative has been used like forever and it’s usually fans who think they’re coaches. The player is doing what he is asked to do.He reads defenses fine for a very young QB in a rebuilding system. This week will be his greatest test simply because we can’t anticipate running for 200+ yards.Yes tips his play but running much better and knowing when to throw the ball away.
