I have many theories on where Crxxm went wrong (maybe a sign that it wasn't the right hire).
1. He was told over and over what bad shape the program was in. Therefore, he felt like he was doing us a favor in coming here.
2. L.T. telling him he had all the time in the world, which led to zero sense of urgency.
3. Along with zero sense of urgency was the lack of recruiting know how which effectively cancelled out all of the national press and praise that could have been used for instant recruiting success.
4. The players that could have been recruited at that time would be playing right now, which would put us in a better position to compete.
I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that a new coach could go into a place like notre dame or georgia and "build a foundation" and as long as the fanbase stayed on board, you could overcome a few bad seasons and eventually recruit well. At a place like MSU, without the tradition, you better show the recruits pretty early on that you can win or that window of opportunity will close.
