But I wanted to take the temperature of the board on this one... Did the Yankees handle Derek Jeter's final season properly this year? Personally, I don't think they did and if my manage played favorites like this, I would be highly irate. Jeter should've been on 3B or 1B or LF for most of this year, not SS. The fact the Brendan Ryan, one of the best defensive SS, was playing 1B while the geriatric Jeter was roaming SS is laughable.
And where's Jeter in all of this? If he was playing to win, wouldn't he have gone to Girardi and told him to do what's best for the team and move himself off of SS? Or did his ego get in the way of that?
