Total bs. He’s 100% correct. But, certain ppl these days seem to be more bothered by ppl mentioning these issues than the actual issues, themselves. El Paso has been completely overrun with illegal immigrants. Hundreds of them line the downtown streets in a make shift homeless type camp. They are even taking over airports, bus stations & anywhere else they can get into. Their democratic mayor issued a state of emergency for damn good reason. It’s insane that this announcer would be punished, in any way, for simply observing & speaking the truth.

The Mayor of El Paso (a Democrat) declared a state of emergency because of the influx of gasp.....illegals overrunning his city. He blamed the Federal government for doing nothing.

So Gary Hahn was spot on.

America 2022, soon to be 2023. What an absolute travesty. I don't care which side of the political spectrum you are on.

It's a mess in El Paso, but being right doesn't always mean you have a platform. He's employed to call football games. I doubt the university or the network are happy. They have a right to expect him to stay in his lane on the air. He's a moron, but not because he thinks the border is a mess.
Funny, I've never seen you complain when ESPN hosts go on political rants much worse than this doing live games. And there have been plenty of those instances this year.

Not once have I seen you, or anyone calling Hahn out on this thread, say a word in those situations.

What a shock.

Ah I see. So stay in your lake and entertain. We’re you saying the same thing when NFL players were hijacking games to promote their platform?

I thought it was pretty self explanatory. It was a stupid thing to say at work.
Same response for you.

You're outrage flows in only one direction.

It seems the ESPN has no problem with whatever comments you are referencing. That's the difference. You don't have a right to expect your employer to validate your on the job political speech in broadcasting.

Was always conflicted about that. Who's pressing who's politics in that situation? Frankly, in my personal opinion, it was a poor decision to kneel, and an equally poor decision to get bent over it. The flag and anthem deserve everyone's respect in my opinion, but I'll grant someone the right to make a statement too. Taking teams out of the pre-game worked for me as an employer reaction... "I won't make you show respect, but I won't let you show disrespect either." Fair enough. Not every damn thing we do needs to be politicized.

Just another example of woke speech is protected speech. We all know it.

And that's the problem as the Twitter files have shown. It always only goes one way.

If anyone says anything that's off the woke train, here comes the mob calling them "morons".

It was an unprofessional and inappropriate comment and deserves a sanction, not that his career needs to end over it. Now, let's start treating similarly unprofessional and inappropriate comments from woke sportswriters similarly. I can't even read the USA Today sports page without being subjected to multiple examples of wokeness that the majority of viewers could easily do just fine without.

Who is pressing the politics? Uh, the players kneeling? That wasn’t football related, which is what you claim you have issue with- not “staying in your lane.”

Not everything needs to be politicized is what sane ppl were saying the entire time, while apparently you were “conflicted.”

Lol you’re so full of ****.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Now that I’ve heard what he actually said, this response makes complete sense to me!

The bowl game he is calling is being played in Charlotte, and he’s simply updating listeners on the score of another game being played in Texas. All he had to say was “In the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, UCLA currently leads Pitt 14-6 ….”

I've seen a lot of 'free speech' leftists who are all in with the mob of cancel culture. Their only true consolation is that they'll be eaten last.

Baloney. He voiced a truth which is his first amendment right. The fact he was censored for exercising that right should scare everyone on this board. You might be next.

The first amendment doesn’t mean your employer can’t punish you for saying something they don’t like at work. I’m not saying the border isn’t a mess, but this dumbassery about what the first amendment protects is everywhere online. I don’t know if ppl are stupid or intentionally obtuse.

What? He was in a job situation so your 1st amendment rights are still your rights, however there are consequences and he got nailed by his employer for the comments.

That has NOTHING to do with what happened to the NC State radio guy!!!!

What he said was the TRUTH!!! He used NO SLUR!!! It was the ACTUAL TERM for the people crossing into El Paso!!!

For him to be suspended for using "illegal alien" to describe those that are coming across the border ILLEGALLY is CRAZY!!!
