I gotta go with Boobie's Burgers and Beer. So much naming potential and it would DEFINTELY be an awesome bar.

Go.

I suggested to him twitter that he go into business with Fletcher and call it Cox & Boobie's.
Boobie follows me now, pretty big deal.

I think Rick Welch owns it. Rick is a bulldog, but Cowbells has been trash for years. The service is horrible and the food isnt any better. I know people who won't go even when they are the only bar open. I haven't been in years.

That name is already taken, sort of. The Boobie Bungalow is a "gentleman's" club in Ardmore AL/TN, and probably a million other places.

Boobie's. Model it after Raiford's in Memphis. Low ceiling and beer is sold in 40 oz bottles. I haven't been in a very long time but that place was always packed.

I think he does own it but I don't know how involved he is with it. I think he pretty much runs Rick's and hires out Cowbell's. Rick is a good guy and I don't think he had anything to do with that tweet.

The "open til 3" thing is their kiss of death. It attracts a pretty awful crowd, and it doesn't help when you consider that the Highlands is largely EMCC kids. Nothing against community colleges, I have a lot to be thankful for when it comes to them, but there are trashy *** people who live in Starkville and go to EMCC.

The one time I went I struck up a conversation with a guy when playing pool and when I asked him what he was studying and after he told me he didn't go to school and then after I asked him what he does... The guy told me he literally sold drugs and flashed me a bag of weed. Like distribution size bag of weed. I'm not an expert on night clubs but I've been to a couple in NYC and bigger cities and its a pretty normal thing to get patted down. I actually think AD would be a good owner... Hopefully it happens.

That would be "Big Jim's Boobie Bungelow" I laugh every time I drive to Nashville that way, going to stop one day and have a beer and buy a tshirt.

Only thing about owning something like this is you really need to be there a good bit and pretty much run it yourself. If you just own it but let someone else run it then there's a good chance of things like the cowbells incident to happen.

I agree. But this thing would be so. popular and I'm SURE that he could find someone TURNT UP enough to run the thing while he's away.

Rick and I think one other helped front the money/supply the building. A couple of others were also involved in starting the place. Some ownership percentages have shifted since. Rick nor the manager of the bar sent the tweet. I'm not sure the one in charge of the day to day operations would even know how to tweet.

To the others, unless you're a fratastic Cowbells is the best spot in Starkville. I used to love Rick's, but it has changed too much.

Disagreed.

I was GDI, and there was no way I was going to Cowbells regardless of how late it stayed open. I'd rather just head home and have late night at the house.

Poorly run from day 1. Bouncers are rude and act like tough guys, weird crowd (like someone said above, probably a bunch of EMCC kids- rampant Affliction shirt crowd), and from the rumors I heard a lot of shady stuff goes on there. Food took about 45 minutes to get to our table the one time I ate there. There were a lot of us, but not many in the restaurant either. And it wasn't good.

No thanks.

You should tell your buddy how they run the bar matters. Charging $10? to get in with no entertainment "because you can" isn't how you should run a college bar. Neither is tweeting ANYTHING towards ANY of your customers that they think they are better than someone else. Or re-tweeting other people saying it. That's unprofessional as hell. Handle that one-on-one and then privately.

Maybe the owners are good guys. Who knows. But I can tell you from my few experiences it seems like not much has changed, and that's not a good thing. If he's not tweeting it and that's one of his employees ruining his bar's reputation, he should probably be a bit more involved.

I can tell you I always got the impression that the bouncers thought they ran the show, and I didn't think they cared much about how long we were waiting on our food. Maybe if you're a regular they like you better, but I've heard several others say the same thing.
