What i always remember Marcos for is him vs. Robby Gordon in the Nationwide Race in Montreal.. I know this is probably an unpopular opinion but I always loved Robby. I get it that he was a jackwagon half the time but I just always seemed to love to watch the trainwrecks he created.
I don't blame him for being mad at the Montreal race. He's in 1st or 2nd and Ambrose wrecks him under caution and NASCAR tries to put Robby in 13th. Robby then grabs the steering will with the proverbial double birdsand doesn't budge. Then he proceeds to spin Ambrose and race to the finish line 1st while ignoring the black flag. Not defending how he responded just saying I'd be mad too. Ambrose was a hell of a driver. I didn't care for him a bunch when he was racing but he could get it done on the track.
If I remember correctly Robby was ultimately suspended and extended an olive branch to Ambrose by offering to let him drive his cup car. I don't think Ambrose did/could but I come wrong.
Would have liked to see Ambrose drive Robby's Garbage Speed Energy car haha.
More chaos created by Ambrose
I completely forgot about that Mears and the Ambrose incident. Ambrose was well within his right there putting up with more than I would have with Casey pushing him. Mears should be back in a Cup car again soon. He needs 10 more starts to get the 500-career milestone he is out to get. Harvick said something similar today to what Hamlin did about the Ty Gibbs pit incident on the Happy Hour podcast. There was a report a couple years ago Robby Gordon was going to return to NASCAR for Watkins Glen. He was right to be pissed about the Montreal spin under the caution and telling him to lineup 13th and to say what is to stop anyone from spinning someone under caution. They made is sound like Ambrose was the victim in that interview talking about the heart break for him after that day. More NASCAR inconsistency and selective enforcement for who the rules apply for. Kind of shocked back then he didn't bring back that line for Ambrose that he used for Michael Waltrip at New Hampshire in '05.
