Apparently the Music City Bowl is more and more likely. LSU or Mizzery

We might win if a lot of their players skip the bowl game like BC players did last year.
LSU is more interesting that Mizzou simply because of the Lane factor now. How many kids stay to play in '26, will some be told to move along, if told they fit in the plans next year some could be motivated to stay and play pretty hard.

Your point is well taken though, the bowls and even the CFP becomes a crap shoot until we figure out who wants to play, who wants to sit out, and who actually wants to get ready to play in a bowl game.

We know DR won't play, its possible EJ will sit out, what if Pritchett decides to declare? Exactly where does NU get its points against a pretty decent team like LSU or Mizzou?

No - because then they would be in the playoff and that’s an entirely different world where likely starters are continuing to play and NFL prospects are too.

I would get a kick out of an LSU matchup because I know so many people in NOLA. I can do the self-deprecating "we suck you'll kill us" thing with gusto and if a miracle happens and we win I'll give them the "wow, LSU must be terrible because we suck."

I mean, that's the only way you can play it.

Might as well give Kiffin a first hand look at 2-3 NU kids he might want to poach.

If Pritchett decides to declare he would officially be as dumb as he looks.....That guy has all the tools, measurements, recruiting pedigree to be a first rounder. Hes just mentally weak and immature.

He could go today and fight it out for late rounds or free agency, or he could grow up, get one solid year getting his conditioning and mind right, and be a first day pick. He just needs a little maturing and the right coach.

. . . . He just needs a little maturing and the right coach.
Which is why he is almost certain to move on one way or the other, unless Uncle Donnie has been replaced with a competent coach before the portal opens -- or he likes having no accountability and doesn't care about winning.

You realize after the play in rounds are bowl games in the CFP? A lot of top players and draft choices have set out the bowl games the last couple years.
That’s my point as to why the bowl games are being exhibition. If we were 11-1 and top 4 seed in the playoffs … that’s what matters. Bowl games are and will continue to be less significant than the playoff.

I went to the last music city bowl and it was freaking cold. Hoping we land at a warmer destination.

My point being, what would the NU offense look like if those guys sat out? It wasn't really an endorsement of Pritchett, but since he's about the only guy with playing time along with Evan that could return next year, exactly how inept could this NU offense be in a bowl game?

In a large contrast, during the GA v. GA TECH game, two really good teams, GA was starting 3 Freshmen in their OL at C, RG, RT. Granted they didn't/and haven't scored a ton of points, but how good might those 3 kids be in 2-3 years when given the chance. And yes, there is a talent there that NU lacks.

Unless you’re Iowa. Who looks at every bowl game like they have all the significance in the world. We get to play an SEC team!!

You realize the semi-finals and final CFP games are actual bowl games, right?

Quarterfinals: Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl, Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl;

Semifinals: Fiesta Bowl, Peach Bowl.

Yes Easy I get that the “bowl games” are a part of the playoff. I’m referring to any bowl game that is not the playoff format. I think it’s pretty easy to draw a significant distinction between the two types of “bowl games”. Ie one set actually means something and the other is an exhibition.

If the other bowls were exhibitions they wouldn't keep stats that count for season totals.

I know they aren’t actually exhibitions … I realize they count toward overall record. It was a comment made reflecting the lesser value of the bowls (non playoff). We never know who is going to play, top players opt out, etc.

I am happy to argue semantics over the actual point that the non-playoff bowls are not as important due to the opt-outs and therefore seem like more exhibitions because we may not be playing the best of the opponent and them of us … as a result opportunities arise for younger players. If you disagree - please make the case they are every bit as important of a conference game. 😁

Playing the bottom of the barrel bowl games is fruitless. Winning or losing doesn't move the program forward when you get another loser team. Eventually Matt will figure out becoming eligible for these nothing bowls doesn't exactly mean playing for championships or whatever bullsh*t he promised us the last 3 years.

The first salvo was fired today when he told Butler to take a hike. We need more of this because eventually Matt is gonna be on the chopping block. We bought a pig in a poke 3 years ago.

I actually think a matchup with LSU would be a lot of fun. They are a bit in flux right now and Nussmeier very likely would opt out. We'd have a month to test out a 4-3 front as our base and hopefully the new DC will be onboard beforehand.

It's been reported that Snow will be the interim DC for the bowl game.

Broadway is pretty fun. My wife always gets mad at me when we go there because the bars do not close until 3:00 am (That is only 1:00 pm on my West Coast body clock). Her dad grew up on a hardscrabble farm outside a tiny town, McEwen, about 55 miles west of Nashville, so I have seen Nashville change a lot in the last 25 years. When her father was growing up in the late thirties, forties and early fifties, he never had two nickels to rub together. His family was still using horses to farm after WWII. Now all these years later the land, still in the family, owned by my wife's cousins is worth some money because of Nashville's growth. Her dad should have never sold his share to his twin brother.

For some reason, people don't get this.

The playoff "bowls" are clearly not a bowl game. No one even knows or cares about the name of those playoff bowl games.

I would have to disagree with you on this.

The winners of these New Years6 bowls still get the trophy of the bowl game they’re playing in.
New Years6 are part of the playoffs.
