Does anyone on here still want Nate Oates as our basketball coach? Obviously he doesn’t mind playing ineligible players. He gets an injunction from the court to allow a guy who has been deemed ineligible by the NCAA to play and you know who I’m talking about. You know that guy that represents the NBA.

Yes, he knows how to win. He has a good resume. He would be on ny list of candidates. I could see him at Kansas when Self retires and they keep their train going there.

Lets say in 20 years, Oats has had a career at Kansas and won them a title.. nobody cares about this g league player thing.

It's sports, its entertainment and competition, I care about winning and my team being good.

Good thing The University of Kentucky isn't gonna put a shart on it's reputation and hire that scumbag so you can get your title. He'd never win one here (that wasn't taken away) anyway, but the shart would remain. lmfao

IF, Oats was our coach, the majority of posters would then (and only then) be ok with everything he has done.

And yes. Oats would win a championship here.

he is 7 years in....10 years is the max at one place for most coaches. things get stale at that point unless your goal is to be a lifer.

If Nate Oats was hired here tomorrow every single thing in his past would be excused. We’ve already done this before. Calipari was called every name in the book and then when he got here, he “dindunufin” all the NCAA’s fault, and not only that, but he’s a saint who attends mass and helps the poor. I mean this literally happened. I knew he needed to be hired but easily said the entire time he’s a crook. And Calipari had major issues at Memphis, from players soliciting prostitution to inciting riots, fake grades, drugs, you name it. But it had to be done.

Now I don’t like Oats and can’t stand the guy. Same as Calipari to me and you’ve been long enough to know it. But, this is business I don’t have to like him. He’s definitely on the list, hungry coach who’s made an elite name he just doesn’t have the backing to do what he would do here.

Alabama is not Kentucky in rep resources or NIL. He would kill it here. We’re doing the same thing we did with Calipari, throwing shade because his final four isn’t ours. This is the SEC. You either treat it as a business or lose, nobody else in this league is going to play by your, or anyone’s else’s, rules. We’ve been hiring bad guys for years, this is college basketball, they’re all crooks or they won’t make it.

Yeah, but Calipari's style shouldn’t win a title either, but sometimes the talent is just so overwhelming. Give Oats enough talent and he would win.

Pope needs to go at the end of the season-a good time will be after Oats beats him for the FIFTH straight time (if they meet in the SECT). But, we all know he will not be.

I'm not clamoring for Oats, but he does have a FF and he has been very good for the most part.
Not so good this year though.

Yeah, all the Popes Dopes posters ignore the overall resumes of the two. I agree with you there are others that can win big here. You don't just look at one season though.

People like the idiot won't answer when you ask what in Popes pre UK resume warranted an interview, much less the offer.
