Nate Oates

[UKCowboys]

Would make sense if Oats didn’t have a final four, 2 elite 8s, and 4 SEC titles.

How long has he been there? Pope may do the same

[UKBB4Ever]

So on point

Who’s point. I’ve never seen that posted until now.

Have you?

[UKBB4Ever]

I’ve never been a big Oats fan. But if the only choice is Oats or Pope then deliberations take less than a second.

It’s Oats by a country mile.

[CatBearPig]

I still have hope in Pope. He’s gotta show he can build a roster next year though.

[*Fox2Monk*]

Good thing The University of Kentucky isn't gonna put a shart on it's reputation and hire that scumbag so you can get your title. He'd never win one here (that wasn't taken away) anyway, but the shart would remain. lmfao

Nobody is getting a title taken away these days.

[*Fox2Monk*]

I'm not clamoring for Oats, but he does have a FF and he has been very good for the most part.
Not so good this year though.

What’s his margin against Kentucky?

[ukcats012]

I’ve never been sold on Oats and was very vocal about it on the old board. I just don’t think his style is built to win in March. One bad shooting half and you’re done.

He also seems like kind of a scumbag.

[HagginHall1999]

He is a good coach. He hasn’t done anything illegal by playing a kid with a legal Injunction. Some people just look for reasons to complain about everything.

He also had the situation a couple of years ago with player(s) involved in killing someone. I honestly think that is more of the character issue and biggest deterrent to UK considering him.

So did Calipari.

[GoAndRunIsGoneAndDone]

He’s had higher ranked defenses than Pope. Pope’s best defensive team was #35 or so.

I didn't mention Pope, you did. He's living in your head, Richie.
PDS is REAL! Seek help..

[OGtruebluewildcat]

He isn’t coming here or going to KU.

He’s going to stay right in Tuscaloosa make millions, have some good teams, have some average teams, maybe have a below average team here or there, and let Deboer take all the heat.

Same goes for every other coach folks want to come here so they can talk about his replacement and eventually run him off.

[Woodrow24]

Nate Oats is a good coach but his handling of that Brandon Miller situation was awful. That’s hard for most to forget about, imo.

The current shart is shart enough.

Yet the same people are happy with the current mediocrity because "he's one of us" and "he's a good man". Brutal.

[Eagles_Ball_69]

Pope current record this season: 15-7, Margin +10.4

Pope needs to go RIGHT NOW!!!!!! This is UNACCEPTABLE at Kentucky!!!!!! Worse than Gillispie!!!!

Oats current record this season: 14-7, Margin +8.9

Omg Oats is so amazing. He really is the dude!

It's odd. It's almost like previous success as a coach matters. Strange not to live in a microwave society and be able to see a big picture.

[The_Answer1313_rivals]

At the end of the day, I don't care who is coach here. I just want UK to be what they typically have been in their history.

[CFE_]

Does anyone on here still want Nate Oates as our basketball coach? Obviously he doesn’t mind playing ineligible players. He gets an injunction from the court to allow a guy who has been deemed ineligible by the NCAA to play and you know who I’m talking about. You know that guy that represents the NBA.
No
Bediaco
Allowed or maybe it should be No Bamans Allowed

I'd take Oats over Pope every single day.

He recruits at a high level at a pure football school
He wins at a high level at a pure football school
He has reached a F4 at a pure football school
He has a fraction of the NIL budget and resources that UK has

Yea - give me Oats today.

[Eagles_Ball_69]

So on point

It is absolutely on point. Not even debatable.

4 Regular season conference titles
5 Conference tournament titles
1 Elite Eight
1 Final Four
4-0 vs our head nerd

Just some more "on point" stuff if your toolbox can fit them.

[kyjeff1]

What’s his margin against Kentucky?

Too depressing to check.

15 I think.
