Would've said National Championship every year of my life until this one.
But this election feels so serious that I could see the possible extiction of things like the National Championship if we continue without leadership.

National championship!

With the checks and balances set up by our constitution...... the president cannot possibly screw up the country too much! Vetoes can even be overridden!

Think how many lives could be changed if the Huskers can win another championship and have another decade of relevance. To the victor goes the spoils: money, jobs, respect, recruiting, and money.

The checks and balances that were set up by the constitution have eroded so badly over the past 20-25 years, that there is no semblance to what was intended. We have seen, in very recent history, the selection of supreme court justices that resulted in personal opinions and agendas versus actual case law and the true meaning of the constitution. (To be fair, it started to erode a long, long time ago - but is just more pronounced in the very recent past). That eliminates the judicial branch as part of the checks and balances. We have very recent history where the President has signed executive orders and memorandums of understanding that circumvent any laws and regulations, so that eliminates the legislative branch as part of the checks and balances. So, when 2 legs of the 3-legged stool of the checks and balance system are no longer there, things don't stand up very well.

A president can screw up a country without most people even knowing it!! I say let me pick the president.

That's how myself, and apparently America, felt about the last 8 years and the prospect of 4 more that would have been even worse.

Haha but for real, I will never understand why one of the most fruitful times in modern history ended up inspiring so much anger. Definitely a time to learn.

Not going to get into a debate about it at this point, that time has come and gone. I'm just going to say America had well over a year to digest all that information you posted, and decided in overwhelming fashion to go in a different direction.

NOW, going forward, I hope like hell he pardons Hillary and takes this opportunity to be the bigger man and put all the "Lock her up" crap in the rear view and get to work. I really hope he takes every opportunity to be gracious and prove many people wrong about him.

Pardons her? What crime has she been charged with?

You really think that if an honest investigation was done into that foundation, that you don't think they'd find some pay for play schemes (bribes)? You really think she just disobeyed a court order and smashed all her hardware after wiping it clean with bleach-bit and deleting thousands of emails, was done for no reason? Really? Innocent people don't act like that. My guess is, that investigation would yield more than enough to charge her with some crimes. You know it to, because people with nothing to hide don't go to those kinds of lengths to hide it. If they rounded up all the players, and said no more immunity deals, if you lie you go to jail, like a real investigation.....well, you and I both know how it would end.

So you're saying that she hasn't been charged with anything.

YET.

Are you saying she hasn't done anything to be charged for?

It's no wonder you guys were so surprised by the *** kicking last night. Completely out of touch with reality.

You're delusional. It was a revelation to me that she was in need of pardoning as I was not aware that she had been charged with anything. I offered no further speculation or opinion on if she should be charged in the future. You are filling in the gaps with who you think I am, how I voted, and what are my intentions. You should take a break.

Fair enough, and to be fair, I stayed up waaay late so I'm running on less than optimal sleep. Please accept my apologies for assuming you voted for the person you were defending. We're good.

Oh boy did we all underestimate how sick and effing tired MILLIONS of people are of anyone at all who looks, sounds and acts like a politician. You wanna talk about a win for "Anyone Else 2016" you saw one last night.

The conclusion I came to is that it's not so much people voting for Trump as they are voting against everything else. I've had discussions around it and their decision to vote for him almost always is explained to me in terms of what they don't like about other people rather than what they do like about him. He himself almost seems irrelevant...he's just a placeholder for an idea. He's just a face for the notion of tearing the whole thing down.

You're gonna get some stories just like you did after Brexit of the idiots heading out to tell people they have to leave now and shout slurs at them. I've seen a few already. Hopefully that dies off quickly, hopefully the guy actually gets some good stuff done.

I would have been fine with McCain or Romney as POTUS, but this one confuses me. I just can't get my head around how you look at that guy and go, "This is a good idea."
