Best team ever? I guess ur too young to remember some of the 80s Celtics and Lakers or 90s bulls.

As for best run, 2001 Lakers lost 1 game n OT and swept the western conference. That included sweeping the spurs and kings. Iverson beating them n LA in OT in game 1 of nba finals to prevent an undefeated run still annoys me.

Thats not just me saying it. Thats coming from a lot of sports talk shows. I dont think a title team ever closed out on a 14 game win streak with probably a 20pt margin of victory.

They are putting up stats snd analytics that no other team has done.

I think the Warriors won 14 or 15 straight.

Yeah the 2017 team only lost one game in the finals. Thats probably the closest example in modern basketball. The Knicks will have more losses no matter what, but they *could* close out the final 3 series in sweeps.

He's probably a top 30 player. 33rd in career BPM, 15th in VORP, 21st in Win Shares, 32nd in PER.

The NBA Playoffs and the Finals have been fantastic as has the NHL Finals. I probably won't watch a random NBA game in winter but when it matters in these moments, it's amazing to watch. Take last night - Spurs lead then Knicks claw back to lead by double digits. Spurs go on a big run, crowd going insane, they take the lead with less than a minute left. Brunson, Wemby mistake, Brunson again. Last second shot doesn't go. Knicks have complete control of the series as the most famous city in the world celebrates and the rest of us are like, "oh, this may actually happen for New York." Incredible stuff.

Kobe is "overrated"? Dear god we have some absolutely brainless fans. Do tell how Kobe is "overrated"?
Because missed shots are missed shots.

And he missed more than any other player in NBA history until Lebron passed him. He shot below 45% for his career, below 33% on threes (LeBron is over 50% for his career overall). There are 42 guys who have scored 25,000 points in the NBA (+ABA) if you include the playoffs. Kobe's shooting % is 38th on that list, ahead of Russell Westbrook, Allen Iverson, John Havlicek, and Elgin Baylor. And Baylor began his career in a league where the average was below 40%, Kobe's FG% was worse than league average the majority of the years he played.

Great player for a marquee NBA franchise. Not in any serious conversation for top 10, and top 20 is very arguable.

Atlanta took the Knicks to 7 games so that makes them the second best team. Watch out for them next season.

6.

Greatest team ever is 100% ridiculous hyperbole. But they are on an unbelievable run. Since they fell behind Atlanta 2-1, they've won 13 in a row with an average margin of 21 ppg.

Good argument; Kobe stills passes the eyes test but I just subbed Kareem for him in my top five. He's now on my second five along with Magic, Curry, Shaq, and Logo Man.

I kind of figured the Spurs needed another year or two. Once they beat OKC, I thought that went out the window. They are here and ready, but NY is just playing really well together.

That city is going to go insane if they hold on and win it all. Going to be one of the wildest celebrations we've ever seen.

Towns seems overrated, soft and inconsistent and doesn’t look like a championship center to me so I guess fox Keldon
Does anyone remember that guy telling us Towns wouldn't be any good cause he had a lazy way of walking before the 2015 season? That guy got mocked endlessly.

Say what you want but he was red hot scoring and then just completely became irrelevant for like 5-7 min and then does a good job guarding wemby

hot and cold

You could say that about damn near any player and I wasn't even talking about that. I'm talking about the guy that said Towns wouldn't be any good at UK cause he had a lazy walk. It wasn't a referendum on Towns I was going for. Just asking if anyone remembered it.

It can't be easy for a big like KAT, who played above everyone else his whole life, to now have to go up against Wemby. Cant expect him to win every matchup, and dominate every minute hes on the court. Plus just the physical aspect of guarding, and being guarded by, Wemby.. has to be exhausting.

No argument with that. I think u have to look at the seeds and average wins of who most of those have come against. I doubt they sweep the spurs anyways.

I remember ! HAHA ! That was unforgettable. We rode that 'LAZY WALK" for all it was worth. And to piggyback off something Lineski said ... yeah, going up against Wemby now, being so much taller.... but just look at how physical he ( and the rest) of the Knicks have been .... it's something OKC tried, but didn't succeed at.

KAT should be MVP at this point ... MOP in the Finals ....

They have done in two games what everyone else has been trying tyo figure out ... and the Knicks had it at the EMIRATES CUP.... they knew they could be physical with the Spurs and have some advantages.

With Wemby's channelling his inner Chris Webber in crunchtime - like moment ....

The Spurs MUST win game 3, it's a true must win. Even they know they aren't going to stand up to the Knicks physical assault over 4 straight games, if they lose 3 straight ... this series is inevitably going to go to the Knicks.

And KAT will be the biggest reason why. It's not that the Knicks couldn't figure out what to do with Wemby, it's that they couldn't figure out how to deal with KAT, along with the other bigs, that the Knicks threw at them.

Mike Brown has made some subtle changes and adjustments that the Spurs just haven't been able to counter..... just had to throw that in there too.

Yeah, as a old time Lakers fan... that still irks me as well. That 2001 run .... whew..... After falling in love with Showtime, then to see Kobe-Shaq like that .... cemented my Lakers fandom. Those were some days ....

Kat has never been a good defender. That's been the knock on him his whole NBA career. But he is much improved and I think he's playing the best defense he's ever played. He's not going to make any NBA all defense teams. But he's not a liability now.

That thread was hilarious. Dude guaranteed KAT would be a bust because of the way he walked. And he was dead serious.

That ranks up there with the “Wembenyama bust” thread on our all time worst takes list.

In terms of scoring margin, I agree. The Pistons and Celtics got knocked out, the Knicks benefitted from it. But they did beat the crap out of the teams that pulled those upsets. They beat the teams that beat the teams.

And the finals looks the same, minus the "beat the crap out of" part. I don't think the Knicks could have beaten OKC. I don't think they'll sweep, and I don't think we'll see them win by 21 in any game. But winning 2 road games makes this almost over, particularly because they have the best guy on the floor who consistently has the ball in his hands. Wemby is obviously the best player, but you can't just hand him the ball and say "get a bucket", whereas you can kind of do that with Brunson.

Brunson is every bit the freak that Wemby is. Just in different ways. The dude looks like the last guy picked at the Y. And moves like it. But he gets to wherever he wants and takes those ugly *** shots that go in. And not a sometimes thing. And he's even better in the clutch. I played with a guy like that many years ago. That dude could have been in a two week slump. But 5 seconds to go and down one, he taking and making that shot. Or getting fouled and making those. Some guys are just wired that way. Larry Bird, MJ, Kobe, Magic, etc. They don't make them all but they are not afraid to take it.
