So when Trinidad wins this in a very friendly court, does the ncaa have the ability to appeal to higher court?I was in Pittsboro at the courthouse today....they are fired up about it. One of the department heads said they should sell tickets.

It doesn’t matter. If the injunction is granted the case won’t be settled until sometime in 2027…or later. Here's a good interpretation of what it's all about next week.....
The state court can only issue an injunction saying the NCAA’s decision can’t be enforced until a Chambliss vs NCAA lawsuit is completed
So the injunction doesn’t “grant him another yr,” it just buys time for the lawsuit to be adjudicated
Not to mention, every NCAA eligibility injunction issued to date is related to antitrust issues (denying players extra years violates their ability to make $, which could be considered violating a law)
This injunction isn’t dealing with antitrust law or a breach thereof, only that the NCAA made a decision inconsistent with the interpretation of their written rules. Tha type of lawsuit hasn’t been filed yet to my knowledge
Doesn’t matter. The injunction will last plenty long enough for him to finish the season. That’s all they need. Here's a good interpretation of what it's all about next week.....

Or never. It will be moot by January. It doesn’t matter. If the injunction is granted the case won’t be settled until sometime in 2027…or later.
Go away Preston VanderDickIt doesn’t matter. If the injunction is granted the case won’t be settled until sometime in 2027…or later.
Well anytime an Ole Miss graduate is involved, any semblance of integrity is completely removed.I don’t see how he gets an injunction. He isn’t challenging JUCO rules like Pavia and the Tennessee quarterback. He is trying to get a medical redshirt from four years ago when there is no evidence that he deserved a medical redshirt. If he was going to get a medical redshirt, it would’ve been given at the time. He didn’t even ask for one then, and is now trying to lie and say he needed one because he’s got a chance to make millions next year as OM’s quarterback. It’s a brazen ploy to circumvent the rules, and I don’t see how it could succeed.
Yes, they can. Sooner or later, they are going to have to put their foot down and fight or they will go away like the dinosaurs. They did not against Pavia because he had a pretty good reason. The NCAA will probably cave but sooner or later they will stand up and fight. So when Trinidad wins this in a very friendly court, does the ncaa have the ability to appeal to higher court?
It is pretty similar to the Bediako case at Alabama: using state contract laws to claim the NCAA is not applying its rules fairly toward the plaintiff. This injunction isn’t dealing with antitrust law or a breach thereof, only that the NCAA made a decision inconsistent with the interpretation of their written rules. Tha type of lawsuit hasn’t been filed yet to my knowledge
State court. In Oxford. And you are out here arguing facts and logic.I don’t see how he gets an injunction. He isn’t challenging JUCO rules like Pavia and the Tennessee quarterback. All the NCAA has to do is disqualify teams from playoffs. Good luck recruiting/buying players to a program banned from playoffs.Seriously, what are they gonna do about it? Pull some scholarships? Limit on campus visits? Make us forfeit some games retroactively? Who gives a ****? They’ve got no way to punish anyone in the current environment and it’s all their fault.
Yes, but appeals take approximately 18-22 months to get a ruling. So when Trinidad wins this in a very friendly court, does the ncaa have the ability to appeal to higher court?
Right. The judge could/should recuse himself, but that would require integrity. Unfortunately that is far outweighed by the better season tickets he was promised.Well anytime an Ole Miss graduate is involved, any semblance of integrity is completely removed.
Which means Ole Miss assumes the risk of playing an ineligible player. It doesn’t matter. If the injunction is granted the case won’t be settled until sometime in 2027…or later.
Zero risk there. This isn't 1975. NCAA won't do a thing.Which means Ole Miss assumes the risk of playing an ineligible player.
Pass the popcorn.
Y'all keep saying stuff like this and I can't tell if you mean it for if you're trying to reverse jinx yourself. But I get sick of seeing it. The NCAA is not just going to fade away. They're going to start showing people that they have some relevance because they have to. And the way Ole Miss is acting, they're just begging to be the subject of their object lesson.Zero risk there. This isn't 1975. NCAA won't do a thing.
You have a lot more faith in the NCAA's authority and will than I do.Y'all keep saying stuff like this and I can't tell if you mean it for if you're trying to reverse jinx yourself. To me it's common sense. If you're running the NCAA.....are you going to allow your organization to keep falling into irrelevancy, or are you going to try to flip the script somewhere? You have a lot more faith in the NCAA's authority and will than I do.
The real victim in all this is the OM tutor that has to keep going to all his classes for him and do all his tests while this legal process plays out.110% chance he gets his TRO and injunction granted He will play.
I don't think there's anything the NCAA can do to make itself relevant again. It really only exists for basketball and minor sports right now anyway. The SEC and Big 10 commissioners rule college football, with some input from the other conference commissioners. To me it's common sense. If you're running the NCAA.....are you going to allow your organization to keep falling into irrelevancy, or are you going to try to flip the script somewhere?
Does anyone really care about that, though? What’s the NCAA going to do after the fact?Which means Ole Miss assumes the risk of playing an ineligible player.
Pass the popcorn.
Heavens to Betsy, if they make us forfeit more games retroactively whatever will we do!?!?Which means Ole Miss assumes the risk of playing an ineligible player.
Pass the popcorn.
What is their recourse? Recruiting is all about $, nobody cares about scholarships and visits. Nobody’s getting banned from playing on tv or any of that nonsense anymore. Nobody’s getting the death penalty and they can’t touch NIL budgets. They’re toothless. To me it's common sense. If you're running the NCAA.....are you going to allow your organization to keep falling into irrelevancy, or are you going to try to flip the script somewhere?
Y'all said the same stuff the last time. And the time before that. And the time before that. What is their recourse? Recruiting is all about $, nobody cares about scholarships and visits. Is that all they do? I must've totally dreamed the Luke era.Heavens to Betsy, if they make us forfeit more games retroactively whatever will we do!?!?
Nope it happened - they crushed us with a bunch of scholarship and recruiting limitations that have zero effect in the current environment. Is that all they do? I must've totally dreamed the Luke era.
Ill quote the great Matt Wyatt on this one - "hide and watch".Y'all said the same stuff the last time. And the time before that. And the time before that.
You forgot to put "I hope" at the end.Nope it happened - they crushed us with a bunch of scholarship and recruiting limitations that have zero effect in the current environment.
That may as well have been 100 years ago. Seriously, State athletic dept and fans need to get rid of that old, conservative, non-progressive thinking mindset and fully embrace the new era. Be as aggressive as you can possibly be and then be more aggressive. If you're flirting on the edge of is something is legal or not, you're not being aggressive enough. Is that all they do? I must've totally dreamed the Luke era.
No, State fans needs to get out of their heads that everything's now legal. That may as well have been 100 years ago. Honestly, this is a lot of what is holding us back and has held us back for the last 50 years. No, State fans needs to get out of their heads that everything's now legal.
There's a difference between flirting on the edge of something, like reaching out and tampering through intermediaries, and a coach directly contacting a player not in the portal to convince him to enter the portal, and then continuing to do it after being told someone had the goods on him. Actual text messages from the Ole Miss GM throwing his own coach under the bus to another football program! You're whitewashing outright, egregious violations as them operating in a gray area we should be or are all already operating inside of. Those things aren't the same things. And if you don't think the NCAA will pummel someone if they have the absolute goods, well, I don't know what to tell you. This is an organization that badly needs the PR win that comes with that. They're looking for someone dumb enough to leave receipts and Pete told them to hold his beer.
I swear, Ole Miss has a good season in football and brains start breaking.
So because I don't want my coach's conduct as the lead story on every major sports network in the worst way possible, that's holding us back? Not wanting our coach to look like an absolute mouth breathing retard is a bad thing? Because that's what Golding looks like right now.Honestly, this is a lot of what is holding us back and has held us back for the last 50 years.
I think the NCAA only cares about maintaining its deathgrip on the left hind tit of the cash flow in college sports, and will capitulate in whatever way they can in order to do so. They couldn’t care less how relevant they are, as long as they keep getting their cut of the windfall.Y'all keep saying stuff like this and I can't tell if you mean it for if you're trying to reverse jinx yourself. But I get sick of seeing it. The NCAA is not just going to fade away. They're going to start showing people that they have some relevance because they have to. Well, the last time, “they” were right.Y'all said the same stuff the last time. And the time before that. And the time before that.
I want to win. Period. So because I don't want my coach's conduct as the lead story on every major sports network in the worst way possible, that's holding us back? Not wanting our coach to look like an absolute mouth breathing retard is a bad thing? Because that's what Golding looks like right now.

I do too. And I want us to compete like everyone else is to do it. What I don't want to happen is be put in the position Ole Miss is in right now. You guys can think it's no big deal and nothing is going to happen, but I can tell you straight up that's not the case. There are some puckered buttholes up there and this is direct knowledge. There's a good chance Golding's not the coach this fall.I want to win. Period.
