I do too. And I want us to compete like everyone else is to do it. What I don't want to happen is be put in the position Ole Miss is in right now. You guys can think it's no big deal and nothing is going to happen, but I can tell you straight up that's not the case. There are some puckered buttholes up there and this is direct knowledge. There's a good chance Golding's not the coach this fall.
You're living in a dream world. And hell yes, I would love to be in the position UMiss is in right now coming off a semifinals run in the playoffs and with the #2 ranked transfer portal class in the country coming in. Hell yes, I wish we were in that position.

Well, the last time, “they” were right.

What was it…..15 Level 1 violations from the Hugh Freeze / Barney Farrar stuff? And they got nothing but a wrist slap.
And the Matt Luke era as a result. You forgot about that? They didn't just get a wrist slap. That's you believing their propaganda. The program was hurt and the town was hurt. Hell, they had a boom of condo construction during the Freeze years and watched them sit empty in the aftermath. My neighbor bought one for pennies on the dollar.

To me it's common sense. If you're running the NCAA.....are you going to allow your organization to keep falling into irrelevancy, or are you going to try to flip the script somewhere?

I do not disagree with you, but I only seem to recall this working against us, like when a clerical error cost Spivey his final year of eligibility.

I want to believe in the NCAA showing teeth again to spite our enemies, but I lack faith that they are anything but spineless cowards.

The NCAA only exists because the member schools want it to. While it is a stand alone non profit organization, all of its rules and regulations are voted on by the school presidents. The NCAA IS the schools.

As such, it has whatever enforcement power the schools give it. There are obviously anti trust concerns, but if the schools agree as a group to abide by a certain set of rules, then its up to the group to enforce those rules.

Are the schools serious about enforcing eligibility rules? Given the changes going on right now, im not sure the answer to that is very clear.

Does this situation not feel slimy to you as an Ole Miss fan? I am genuinely curious.
I don't mean to be argumentative with this whatsoever, I'm fond of this message board and try not to engage in the really dicey Egg Bowl arguments out of respect for my standing as a guest, but I can only answer your question by first adding context from my perspective-

I realize you probably view our 2013 - 2017 NCAA investigation through a different lens than I do but our program was cratered 9 years ago based in large part on the testimony of MSU linebacker Leo Lewis, who was granted immunity despite admitting to taking payments from multiple other conference schools as well as Ole Miss. They have been consistently selective in their targets for compliance enforcement for years and I'm enjoying watching them burn. I just don't think I have a barometer for that sort of thing anymore as it relates to college sports mainly because the NCAA is the epitome of a sleazy organization.

As I said….F off. Yall deserve everything that’s ever happened to you (except winning) and then some. You will get no pity here. Leo deserves a spot in HOF because of what he did. You can take powdered sugar and put it in a turd and it still smells like ****…just like you.

There was nothing in the NCAA sanctions that spelled out “you must hire Matt Luke for 3 years”. They did that to themselves. And they did it before the penalties were even announced, for that matter.

Im not looking for pity - I was answering a question. My team just won 13 games and will be returning its starting QB next season despite what the sandy vaginas in Indianapolis want...I have no need for pity.

You brought up Leo Lewis. Nobody will agree with you here. And congrats, you won 13 games. But how does it feel to know the man responsible for yalls success left yall to go to your “biggest” rival? The man yall worshipped and idolized dropped yall like the cheap whores yall are. And he is going to kick yalls *** when he comes back. And save the “we won the last 3” comebacks. We aren’t stupid. Yalls chapped asses have been quite the consolation

Do you feel like it is worth the long term damage to the sport to get an extra year for him?

To be honest, the dude with all the numbers in his username is obnoxious and overly aggressive but he is also kind of right. While I don't think this particular case is doing any damage to the sport that hasn't already been done, I also don't care about the long term health of the sport nearly as much as I care about winning games. It's always been an unfair playing field with the NCAA turning a blind eye to it's pet programs and bringing down the hammer on the Ole Misses of the world and I'm happy to be able to tilt in our direction a bit this time. I do, indeed, only care about Ole Miss.

I swear, I really am happy that we won 13 games and made it to the CFP semis...promise, I'm not just saying that to get under your skin. I'm cool with winning 10+ a year for the last half decade and, while I wanted Kiffin to stay at the time, I'm also glad he is gone now. If me having a "chapped ***" is your only consolation I suggest you find a new hobby.

I think you are having trouble distinguishing the difference in Twitter burners and actual humans. Most Rebels I know had moved on from Kiffin by the end of the Sugar Bowl.

My hobby is having decent conversations with people I have things in common with. I've never had much trouble doing that here but with you, I'm not sure that's possible.

To me, paying players and using a slow court system to undermine the governing body are 2 completely separate deals. It would be one thing to get him ruled eligible but saying they cannot legally rule him ineligible until the case is heard (after next season of course) is wild to me. Why not do it for every player then? Whats to stop anyone from playing college sports?

My worry is in a few years we are all going look at what we've made college sports into and not like what we see.

Well considering I’m not some limp-wristed, bow tie wearing, overweight mamas boy with man-boobs we don’t have anything in common.

I don't disagree with you at all. My fandom has already plummeted from where it was not all that long ago. I don't know the names of 1/4 of the starters and 6 years ago I could name probably 75 of the 85 and a half of their home towns. We might as well jump in and try to win a bunch of games too while it burns to the ground.

All the NCAA has to do is disqualify teams from playoffs. Good luck recruiting/buying players to a program banned from playoffs.
Hmmm……why couldn’t the NCAA do this? It won’t be violating the courts injunction to allow athletes to play the additional year and make money. But I’m sure it would trigger additional lawsuits.

Bull. S#!t. You guys had a literal meltdown when the rumors started, and ESPECIALLY when he left. Some OM fans were even wishing Kiffin would die. Y'all were acting like the biggest bunch of babies on the planet. There's no way you guys recovered from burned asses that quick.

Really no alternative. He’s a great coach and I didn’t want him to leave but he’s gone and I’m not going to sit in ashes over it. We finished strong without him and I believe we’ve got really solid leadership in place that will continue to bring in good players. I’m a firm believer in players >>>> coaches.

Sure there was some of that but “yall”, “some ole miss fans” and “you guys” don’t necessarily describe the collective.
If you think any sane ole miss fan is down right now because Kiffin isn’t coaching any more, well that’s just not accurate. It may become accurate next fall but for now I think we’re all very happy with the state of the program and the coaches in place.

I mean, I can’t speak for the collective fanbase. Personally, I’m pretty content and I’m not about to piss my pants if we go 8-4 or something next year. I think our floor is significantly higher than it was 6 years ago, and even then, we likely would have made the playoffs 3-4 times in the last decade (a decade that included 3 years under Luke on probation) if the 12 team system had been in place. We’re never going to be Ohio state or Georgia but we’ll be fine.
