Both ESPN and CBS have us playing Wright State first round. Seems like an ideal matchup for us, as they are very young and very undersized. Our veteran team should be able to handle them.
ESPN has us against BYU 2nd round. I would be okay with that, even though we played them in the preseason....because Richie Saunders is now out for the season with a torn ACL. CBS has us playing St John's 2nd round. I would not like that. They have won 16 of their last 17 games, and Pitino is a hell of a coach.

Agree on St.Johns. Every other team in that range would seem to be better for us. I do like that we play a unique defense this year and if we win, the Saturday matchup opponent would only have 2 day to prep. Our assistants are excellent at advanced scouting. Right now I have BYU vs Santa Clara opposite us.
You've listed all the reasons why Purdue will get to play Wright State.

Miami of Ohio goes down. So the MAC tournament champion will now take a spot away from a bubble team.
They'll get in. Committee would take a beating if they leave them out.

Meanwhile people act like Indiana might still get in with 59 losses. Or Auburn with 98 losses.

Man, it’s nice not to be sweating this weekend. 1991 was the only other season where NU was a sure-thing lock for the NCAA Tournament before the conference.
NU may have been a 4 seed that season and played their way up to a 3 in the Big 8 Tournament. Then got a bad draw with a very ‘under-seeded’ Xavier team that was a 14 but had made the Sweet 16 the year before.
This year we’ll get Wright State or UC-Irvine…no guarantee, but I like my chances.

Goal is still just to win a tournament game. Everything else is a bonus.

I generally like McDermott, but he would be crazy to go to ASU. Mac's used to being the biggest deal in town, and nobody in Phoenix gives a crap about that program. Plus the upper half of the Big 12 would absolutely eat him alive.
He might go just for one last big payday. But it seems like an odd fit. Some coaches are not cut out for NIL and Mac is one of them.
Stranger things have happened - like Kyle Whittingham going to Michigan, for example. But I would think most programs are going to be reluctant to hire a guy who's already looked pretty checked out for about six months.
I think Mac is ready to just play golf every day. He'll probably do like Doc Sadler and just take an "advisor" position somewhere where he can just hang out at the office half the day and golf the other half of the day.
Good question - TTECH got smoked today and they were on the 3 line. That helps. There is probably a scenario where Purdue could actually jump NU for a 3 spot. Keep an eye on Alabama, Kansas, Virginia
I do not like the Purdue matchup. For a 2 seed thats a tough ask
If Purdue beats us and Michigan State they could get the 3-seed. And if Alabama and Virginia make their conference championship games, I could see us falling to a 4-seed.
How fun would a 2nd round game against UNC be? I'd like our chances. Hubert Davis sucks.
It feels like a loss. We can only assume Mast will continue his milk carton status. His disappearance alone is enough to make the difference between winning and losing.
