Did you guys see the NCAA memo today stating that any coach playing a 5 year guy who wasn't signed up for portal in April will face a half season suspension. I don't understand what they are doing. A judge ruled these guys are eligible and none of them knew they would be in April. I can see about a 100 lawsuits against them over this, which they WILL lose. Why do it. It's just plain stupid. Am I missing something here.

If we cut a guy and sign 2 of these guys can we double it to 100% of season?

Then bring in another coach to coach this season.

Did Kohler, Mitchell and/or Hall enter the portal?
Hall entered the poral on April 20th. He's the guy this ruling was meant for. I hope we get him. He makes us top 5-8 in my opinion. Kohler did not so his eligibility is more complicated. He could go back to Mich State if the ruling stands but based upon Judge Sweeney's clarification I don't see how he could go wherever he wanted but with the NCAA all things are possible these days. Mitchell did not enter the portal in April so he's in the same boat as Kohler.

I really hope we don’t get Hall. This seems like a good roster with hard working, humble guys that are hungry for success.
Keyshawn Hall is a jerk wad, it would be disappointing if we add a potential trouble player.

Is that a good or bad thing?
Probably lean towards bad. If he takes Hall because he entered the portal and is much more likely to be a "safe" sign who doesn't need a lot of dominos to fall in place, then he avoids the "potential" NCAA backlash despite adding a rumored locker room cancer and ball dominant guy. Hall is no doubt talented and fills a small scoring need on the second line off the bench. Kohler is the more obvious need and better fit as we need to insulate ourselves from injuries at the 5 and upgrade at the 4, and would be less of a cohesion problem this late in the summer. But he comes at the risk of not being granted eligibility and the NCAA actually taking steps against Pope for signing him. (Though I don't believe the NCAA would and the threats are baseless), Pope being the type of cautious, by the rules, don't upset the regime type guy we'd imagine will pass over the better player for this UK team with risks to eligibility in favor of the sure thing with risks to team culture. We had a lot of "risky" team culture guys last year and we see how that turned out.
