from an ACL, and a new DC- Vandy returns 17 starters from their bowl team and most starters are Juniors or Seniors...

And Vandy is at home

I dont think SC has achieved reload status like Bama and LSU

and by that I mean, the big head. For people that don't really see how the emotions of football work. The only thing Vanderbilt will find than going to a bowl game, will be going to two in a row. See 2009. Yeah, Franklin seems to be a pretty good coach, but until history does not repeat itself, I don't see Vandy accomplishing **** this year. <div>
</div><div>But then again, this is opening week, and both teams theoretically should be pumped. Still hard to call for Vandy.</div>

moving to a new position. And thats not counting losing LB Rodney Paulk who was their 3rd leading tackler- who was only a part-time starter

offense lost Jeffrey, the LT and RG. Defensively, they lost Ingram and Robertson on the DL, Antonio Allen at LB, (plus Paulk who played all the time), and CB's Gilmore and Whitlock- thats 5 starters on D lost- plus Paulk. And Holleman is moving from the Secondary to LB replacing Allen.

Their leading returning WR caught 29 passes, which is ok- everybody else was under 20.

Vandy is going to win this game

Vandy will beat South Carolina outright, and the same for Louisiana Tech over Texas %%%!*!% A&M.<div>

You just said Vandy will beat South Carolina outright, and the same for Louisiana Tech over Texas %%%!*!% A&M.

The most underachieving team given their natural advantages in all of CFB perhaps...

La Tech has beaten 3 SEC teams since the last time A&M beat one(Bama twice). They've played the SEC better than A&M has consistently since 1997.

A&M lost a stud deep threat, a first round qb, a stud RB, and had one of the worst defenses in all of D1 last year. They have a good OL and running backs, with one good receiver. La Tech shut down Ballard last year. They are capable of shutting down Christine Michael this year. Especially in Shreveport.

I won't go as far as to say that La Tech will win, but unless I REALLY miss my guess, it is going to be a very good game.

<div>What does that have to do with anything? You'd be better served to try and find stats of first year SEC coaches that lost to lower tier teams in their first year, and the circumstances therein. Saban comes to mind, but even that situation is rare.</div><div><div>

</div>A&M also has one of the best OLs in college football. La Tech will not stop them. La Tech will also not outscore them. La Tech's only chance to win is to keep it low scoring and have a big ST night. What does Ballard and our below average OL from last year have to do with anything?<div>

</div></div><div>I'm sure that's a rarity in your own mind, to actually be wrong on something. And what a stretch that was, to say "it's going to be a very good game". Nice. A&M may only beat them by a 10 points and it can still be a good game.</div>

If someone can find my post from last year I did a real good write up. In short, google sportsbookreview.com and use an A book. Their job is to keep up with the industry and handle disputes. If anyone has any questions you can send me a pm. This usually gets its own topic every year.

Not sure what that has to do with this game. It's still Texas A&M vs. Louisiana Tech.

You've now posted twice under the pretense A&M is some traditional powerhouse that rolls over midmajor teams, nevermind that La Tech will be one of the 5 best non-bcs teams in the country this year.

It matters because I pointed out that La Tech has been better against SEC competition over the past 15 years than A&M has been, especially in the season that's most relevant...Last year.

You'd be better served to try and find stats of first year SEC coaches that lost to lower tier teams in their first year, and the circumstances therein.

Less relevant than my previous paragraphs. But ok, I'll bite. Listed SEC coaches that lost to a non-bcs team in year 1(since 1990):
ALABAMA:
Nick Saban(ULM)
Mike Shula(Northern Illinois and Hawaii)
Mike Dubose(La Tech)
Gene Stallings(Louisville*at the time)
ARKANSAS:
Danny Ford(Memphis)
LSU:
Nick Saban(UAB)
OLEMISS:
Ed Orgeron(Wyoming)
MSU:
Dan Mullen(Houston)
Sly Croom(Maine and UAB)
Jackie Sherrill(Memphis and Air Force)
TEXAS A&M:
Mike Sherman(Arkansas St)
GEORGIA:
Jim Donnan(Southern Miss)
KENTUCKY:
Guy Morriss(Louisville)
MISSOURI:
Gary Pinkle(Bowling Green)
Larry Smith(Tulsa)
SOUTHCAROLINA:
Lou Holtz(East Carolina)
Brad Scott(East Carolina)
VANDERBILT:
Bobby Johnson(Middle Tenn St)
Rod Dowhower(TCU)

So, it's only got precedence for happening 19 times for new HC's in the previous 21 years. Super rare**

A&M may only beat them by a 10 points and it can still be a good game.

A&M will NOT beat them by 10 points, nor will they score 35 on them. It will go a good game in the high 20s/low 30s. A&M had one of the worst defenses in all CFB last year. Literally on OM's level...

they are some power coming into the SEC is beyond me. They were 6-6 last year with a ****** defense- and they had losses in personnel. It's not like they were a young team or something. A&M is the one team in the West Mississippi has a chance to beat- thats how bad they are on defense

No one is questioning them on offense. They will probably be in the top half of the conference there. Defensively, I'm expecting them to be an absolute joke this year. Nowhere near SEC depth or skill up front, with a VERY suspect secondary.

A&M was great under Jackie and RC. They've been crap for the past decade. They are not currently a powerhouse, and it is yet to be seen IF Sumlin can build them into one. He never had good defenses @ Houston, so alot of this is riding on Mark Snyder, a historically average DC @ USF and average HC @ Marshall. Meyer's similar offense succeeded in the SEC, but he also had Charlie Strong. If everything goes PERFECTLY, Sumlin is 3 years away from competing. Aggies tout his amazing recruiting since being there, but I don't see it. Their class is just full. By NSD they will be ranked closer to #20 than #10(#18 by average stars), which is right on par with their average standards over the past decade...

Inexcusable for a school with their built in natural advantages, which rivals EVERY school in the SEC(from money to recruiting, etc..) to underachieve to the extent that they have. What can they accomplish out from Texas' shadow?

South Carolina losing Ingram isn't gonna matter much when his backup had 8 sacks last season, so they're only really losing 1 D-lineman. Vandy's OLine probably isn't going to be able to handle Clowney and Taylor. Chris Marve and Casey Heyward, Vandy's far and away best players on defense are gone. Despite S.Car's offensive line losses, they will be able to run the ball. Lattimore, when healthy, is the most talented back in the country, and his backups are good strong backs as well. Sure Jeffrey's gone, but so is Stephen Garcia, and with a decent quarterback behind them with Lattimore forcing them to cheat inside they'll be able to spread the field. Vandy should give them hell, but South Carolina could easily beat the spread.

means very little but I'm curious what aTm's final recruiting rankings are for the last 5 years compared to LTech's final rankings?
