It doesn't look at head to head competition as far as the RPI rating ( like it or hate it) it's just how the math adds up.

There's not a big difference in totals
But Andrews still has a higher winning percentage.

Mitchell's total is .633 plus their ahead in all the rankings.

Doubtful. There's a lot of spots that would need to be jumped, and a lot of losing on other teams behalves. If Swain can win out, they will likely remain #4 tho.

Well if we're correct in our interpretation of the rules then who ever wins the SMC will be at least #4 seed if say assuming ER, Mt Airy and Mitchell wins their conferences then these 4 conferences will be the only ones with a 1A conference champion the other conferences are split and being lead and will be more then likely won by a 2A school.

Andrews hasn't played Murphy yet. But I get what you're saying. As far as it goes, I think the most interesting thing here is that Cherokee isn't ranked in the top ten

I know the formula...but is amazing how swain beat Andrews last Friday and they jumped to 3rd in rpi last week. Cherokee beats Andrews Friday and they jump to 13th. Amazing difference.

It's all about matchups though...Id rather be a lower seed and go to Thomas Jefferson or Mic....than be at home and host an smc school in early rounds.

Probably since he had them #2 last week. I'm kinda curious what all goes into his formula since he has Mt Airy who has at #1 strength of schedule 24 and ER 3 with the lowest the # the strongest the schedule. I'm not cutting on Mt Airy they may be the best team just wondering with that size difference what else he considers. But as far as paying much attention to it, it's fine to use for conversation but not as far really meaning anything.

This is crazy. How could Starmount be ranked that high (formula or not). Thomasville stomped Forbush in the ground and Forbush beat Starmount. I think Thomasville would beat any of the 6-10 by 3-4 TD's.

I’m kinda new over here on 1A. If you look at my past posts you will see I don’t really care about rankings. Teams have to win out to get the prize. However getting a #1 seed does guarantee a short ride home, win or lose…

Well that's why I don't pay much attention to Simmons rankings doesn't mean anything as far as where your team will be seated and get some home games.

Robbinsville has Swain and Andrews the next 2 weeks..with wins the Knights should go inside the top 8

If Mitchell wins out, I don't think Rosman and Avery will hurt enough to drop them below Swain or Starmount. But it sure doesn't help having the 2 weakest teams on the schedule left.

Well a Mitchell win they go from .75 to .78 wp but the opw if I'm doing right will drop from .658 to .584 something like that I'm trying oopw but it may go down some I don't think the total RPI will go under .600. it accumulates over time and games the idea is that one game doesn't make or break you but an easy schedule over time can hurt you. One good thing Mitchell wins the next two then they are seated matter what as a conference champion so even if a team was ahead of them in the RPI rankings but they don't win their conference Mitchell would still be seeded higher.

MaxPreps switched back again to East and West so I changed the original post.
Same top 10 in the East as the RPI rankings just switched spots for some. In the West MaxPreps replaces Starmount, Mtn Island Charter and Andrews with Murphy, Robbinsville and Cherokee.

Excited to see the battles coming up in a few weeks in the third and fourth round. SMC/Mountain schools versus Mt. Airy, E Randolph and Thomasville. West winner will be battle tested for sure. Still think the ranking system is trash but whoever wins advances and you get the draw you get.

Well this was the MaxPreps which doesn't effect the brackets. Though #11-34 in the RPI rankings could have changed I only listed the top 10 which hasn't changed in the last updates.
