Will playoffs be decided by this crap?
Yes the playoff seedings...the conference champions will be seeded first by their RPI rankings then everyone else so I suppose if I understand it correctly that you can have a situation where a lower ranked team can be seeded higher in the playoffs because they won their conference championship and the higher ranked team didn't say because they're in a split 2A/1A conference and one of the 2A schools won the conference.

Automatic Qualification
• Each conference will be allotted playoff berths based on the number of schools fielding a team in a particular sport
o 1-5 Teams = 1 Berth (Conference Champion)
o 6+ Teams = 2 Berths (Conference Champion + 2
nd Place or Conference Tournament Champion)
• The highest finishing team from a given classification in a split conference will automatically qualify, regardless of
overall conference finish (minimum of 2 schools per classification)
• Addition of RPI rating to Handbook for conference tie-breaking procedure as the final tiebreaker
Wildcards
The remaining non-automatic teams in each region (East/West) will fill the remaining berths based solely upon their RPI rating.
Seeding
• Conference champions will be seeded before any other qualifying teams by RPI rating
• All other teams will be seeded after the conference champions by RPI rating of the school, regardless of conference finish
• Each region (East/West) will be seeded independently of one another, utilizing the RPI rating of the school

I don't hate using RPI in rankings it does make a good team or a school with a history of having good teams when they scheduling non-conference games to at least try first to play higher caliber teams that can help your RPI instead of a team you pretty much know you can beat that's why your opponents winning percentage counts more then yours though some use 25-50-25 instead of 30-40-30.
But I like what some other states that use rpi add to it , if your a lower classification you get extra credit for playing larger classification teams and to make it fair to the bigger school they get 2 exemptions if they play a smaller school to were it doesn't count against them. Like last week's Robbinsville game as far as NC RPI they just played a 2-3 team but in the other system they would have gotten credit for playing a bigger school.

I agree. There should be a credit toward playing a larger classification. Right row a good big school could pad their stats by playing good 1a and 2a teams. It's the first year of implication, maybe they'll work it out.

Every team we played won Friday.
We lost to a top 20 3a in SC. By 3 points
Our ranking dropped.
If we had played a cupcake team and won we would've moved up.
Does SC rankings figure in NC RPI? Not a jab, an honest question. If not then yes if your team had played any team in NC they probably go up.

actually I've seen a team win but drop in rankings because they played a winless team though they had no choice their in their conference. True it doesn't reward playing up which I think it should but it doesn't reward playing weak teams just the opposite. A 2-3 3A school is the same as a 2-3 1A but a beating a 5-0 1A is the same as beating 5-0 3A. either way its 30% of your teams winning percentage 40% of their opponents and 30% of your opponents opponents. so even if you beat a 1-4 (20%) and their opponents is like 50% your not really helping your RPI.
