The NCPreps Poll along with the NC AP Poll was easily the best all year. It was very little change from week to week unlike Maxpreps (in which Maxpreps was all over the Place). If you look at Maxpreps National Rankings; you gotta chuckle at 3,4 & 5 loss teams above NC’s highest ranked teams. Power Ratings are a terrible thing and computer subjective! Sorry Btango
It’s a bad system(Maxpreps) and NC needs to rid themselves of MaxPreps seeding our State Playoffs.
It does not have to be Max Preps. Use another system but rewarding teams that play inferior opposition or refuse to play a tough non conference schedule is not good either. First place teams are seeded above second place teams. Think Shelby is better than 8th in 2AA West? I expect they are a legitimate second but due to loss to one seed South Point in conference those two will rematch in round two. Probably not the best but it would have probably played out that way last year although Hibriten may have been the top seed or North Surry could have garned the first seed after dropping their only loss because it was non conference. Oh yeah, to 1A Mount Airy. No system is perfect, that has never been a debate for me.
The AP Poll has often left me scratching my head. Many pollster have seen a few of those teams at most but saying that it is much easier to rank ten than it is to seed 32. Give that final half a go for us.
Remember West Forsyth losing a couple of close games at the very end of a past season after being touted by the polls. Went to Butler in the second round and lost by nearly sixty.
