Of the names I recognize, all deserve to be there. There are a bunch I don't recognize BUT I'm sure it was the same process of evaluation. No list is going to satisfy everyone.

Stats alone never tell the full story, but you have to use something as a barometer. I don't see where the list is erroneous, or that NC Preps did anything "wrong". I'm guessing some of the omissions were razor thin decisions one way or the other. BTW, my son didn't make it and I am still defending "the system". If it was based on recruiting and # stars, etc., he is a lock (5 star rated kicker before Jr season, full ride D-1 ACC before Jr season and still actively recruited by about 12 major SEC, ACC, BIG 10 top schools even after committing). I'm not offended that he didn't get on the list, some kids just had better "stats". It is what it is, this scenario exists at every position on the team. Good job Nc Preps from what I can tell....

Cano was a 4-year starter who won 3 state titles and finished 2nd to K Tyler Lewis in NC career kicking points.

I know there is no way of pleasing everybody. I actually thought this team had a good mixture of "high profile" kids with some kids a lot of folks had not heard about. Outside of WNC do many people know Tykel Landrum? He is one of the best athletes to come out of Hendersonville. By stats, he was one of the top receivers and led the state in INTs. He has no stars but I know that the teams in his area would love to have him.

I've been doing these things for almost 20 years and it's not easy at all. Pick 1 QB from over 370 schools in NC. That was the toughest position to pick this year and I'm being totally honest. Hooker may not have had some of the stats the others did but look what he did the whole year. He led his team to a State Championship and accounted for 6 TDs in that game.

I'm not going to come on here and defend every selection I made. I stated it was a hard thing to do. I just want to honor kids for having a great year and I'm sorry that I don't give everybody an award like a lot of today's society does.

There will be an individuall all-state teams released in the next few weeks as well.

Deana don't apologize for doing your job. You do a great job covering NC high school football. Everyone doesn't get participation awards around here.

Kicked off your son is an awesome young man and going to do good things. Sorry I didn't mean to sound harsh about Cano. Kid had an outstanding career.

I wasn't offended. I was actually supporting your decision, not questioning it. I think you did a great job, anyone who reads my previous post and takes it any other way is just looking for something to complain about.

Not sure how th USA Today team was put together. Ryan Jones made first team. Ben Norris listed as a DB.

I sent information to USA Today about my son as a returning WR for Mallard Creek. They listed him as a returning WR for class of 2016. He was 3 years old! Lmao!

Never too young to be a receiver. Some receivers run over defenders while your child can run under them!!!:)

It's a popularity contest. College interest determines who makes it or not.

I do not think that is totally correct. Some of the players that made it are not big time recruits at all or there are players from the same position that are higher rated.

So you get kicked off NCPREPS and you change the #'s in your name, and you come back & start trolling Mallard Creek all over again? What a sad pathetic life you must have.

Well hello there nepsy ! We haven't heard from you since the second round. Thanksgiving, right?
We thought you might have gone awol with your buddy hokie once your playoff hopes crashed and burned.
Glad to know you are still around and fiesty as ever.
So, tell us again about your #1 strength of schedule.
Byrnes? 4-7.
2A Dillon? No ring this year for them. We told you their former QB was their key. Your 7-3 might not have held up against him. Good timing.
South Pointe? That QB showed up, didn't he? Then the 3A power showed you up.
Vance.
Butler.
How many did you lose anyway?
Nothing worse than not meeting expectations.
By the way, is calling us "trolls" the best you can do? 2A players are on this All-State team that starts this thread.
Tell you what. Every time you call us "trolls", we will donate $100 to the Golden Lions Championship Ring Fund. We are raising money again, for the fourth year in a row. Since MC and Butler won't be buying rings any time soon, maybe nepsy, you and hokie can contribute to ours. We DID end up nationally ranked.
Sure glad some of us could represent.
