With UNO's hockey team being ranked #1 preseason and coming off a Frozen Four the year before, in terms of men's sports, is Nebraska still the top athletic program in the state?

UNO is the #1 hockey team, has a new arena and is coming off the Frozen Four.

Creighton's basketball team has been an annual NCAA tourney team and repeatedly beats the Huskers. Additionally, their soccer team is a national title contender.

The Huskers are a mid-tier team in all three men's sports they compete in (Football, Basketball, Baseball).

So UNO being #1 in hockey(a very niche sport at the college level) makes them an all-around better athletic program than Nebraska? You also talk about Creighton being an "annual NCAA tourney team" in basketball but fail to mention they didn't make it last year, and were only marginally better than us. Men's soccer is also a niche sport-not comparable to football, basketball or baseball. Are UNO's basketball or baseball programs better than Nebraska? No. Is Creighton's baseball program better than Nebraska? No. So when you are selective and try to compare niche sports to big-time sports, than yes you could have a point-but I think a largely irrelevant one.

I enjoy UNO hockey, but our volleyball team is more popular...

The sports you named don't even attract half the fans our football team does (maybe not even 25%) and that doesn't even included TV viewers. Last I saw Creighton was picked to finish 9th in their league this year.

it seem like Husker football rules all at all times…as God intended it to be..

but the next closest is creighton basketball it seems…I know NU womens volleyball is popular…Im not sure of the numbers though..

NU used to have real good gymnastics. and some good runs in baseball and wreseling..

golden gloves was ok, and the track meet at burke is kinda big

The best was when I went to the spring game in 95 or 97 I think…I sat at the top of the north endzone, eating pizza..and I could watch the # 1 football team in the nation , and the best big 8 baseball team practicing at the same time.
