Down at the beach for the weekend. Need some suggestions for good seafood places. Also, may by some seafood to take back up to Tupelo with me. Any suggestions for where to buy some to take home.

I can say where not to go. That is the tin top. It is very loud, very crowded, and service is more hit than miss. Food is good but not exceptional. Certainly not worth the negatives. There are places every where that sell fresh seafood. I got some about 4 miles from the beach on gulf shores parkway. I'll see if I can find the name of that place.

The Steamer and Baked Oyster bar is my favorite. They usually have 2.5 lbs of "crab pieces" for $10, which is basically crab legs that don't hold together so they lose value, but taste just as good.

Wasn't impressed with Neptunes.

Not a big variety, but cool place and great view. Try the Gulf at Perdido Pass bridge in Orange Beach.

I have eaten at all the previous mention places but Cosmos would be my pick for real seafood. If you just want fried shrimp and oysters, you can't beat Sea N Suds.

Go to the fishing pier, discuss and trade with the local pier rats.
