Mine is bundled with landline telephone, so I'm not exactly sure how much for broadband. Total is about $90, so I think internet is $50-$60 of that total.

15 down, 4 up. They have faster, but I don't know what it costs. It's not on their website, and when you ask customer service on the telephone they can't really give a definitive answer. I find that odd. Sounds like you'd have to sign up for it to see what the cost is.

Just saw an ad for HughesNet Gen 4, supposedly with downloads of "up to" 15. They don't mention upload speeds, which means it's probably not great, nor price, which means it's probably expensive. But "standard" installation is free ... might bear checking into if you don't like the Wildblue.

$10 a month adder to cable bill. Usually around 7M down 256k up on speedtest.net.

By "connection @ 10" do you mean the modem train rate?

Comcast. Mine is bundled. I'm guessing somewhere around 40-50 a month with 28 down and 7 up.

Can you tell any difference? You may be past the point of what's coming to you can handle for the most part.

You really won't tell a difference while surfing regular websites but streaming and watching netflix - you will notice a huge difference.

Also - a phone that has 4G LTE can pull up a 3 min Youtube video ridiculously fast.

I have dsl lite from ATT and watch Netflix fine. Might take 30 secs to cue up the program but runs fine with no interruptions after that. I pay $25/mo which I thought was high as it was $15 just 3-4 years ago. But I guess it's not so bad considering the performance I get out of it. No way I'm paying $70/mo.

There is no way DSL lite would serve my needs. My experiences with DSL here in Meridian suck anyway. I'll ride the $70 promo till it runs out then switch back to the standard 25mbs package.

You are probably watching in SD. With BMT's internet speeds, you can watch a lot of the streaming shows on Netflix in HD.

I"m paying 45 a month for Uverse 18Mbps (in reality it's more like 14) down. I had dsl at 6Mbps and was starting to notice performance issues with multiple devices streaming netflix at the same time. Company pays for my internet so price wasn't my concern.

I think it goes to 55 after a year.

I'm in Meridian too, but some of it depends on where you live. I asked an ATT tech once about Fast dsl and he said I would be wasting my money. Something about how far I live from some of their equipment. He said mine actually worked better than Fast in my neighborhood.

As far as HD with Netflix streaming, mine may not be quite as detailed as true HD quality, but it's not far off. My Netflix HD movies are more clear than just regular cable programs, but not quite as good as true HD quality flicks. I guess all depends on what you want and willing to pay.

Hope you got a VPN or something. Public trackers are crawling with bots. You'll start getting automated DMCA emails in your inbox about those movies you downloaded last night.

63 / month --- 67 after taxes, in Tupelo

Comcast, advertised 20 mbps down, 4 up. Normally between 15-20 down, 3-4 up when I've tested.

Appears that I am overpaying. It's an internet only price, no TV bundle. Have directv.

If you have a cable provider like CableOne, Metrocast, or Comcast or anything like that, make sure you buy your own modem and don't have a guy come "set it up". Metrocast tried to charge me $100 for a guy to plug in a modem into the cable line and charge me around $5 a month for "rent". A really good modem that will make your Internet a whole lot faster than the ones for "rent" are ~$90.

Under current laws, unless you're seeding

lots of files, its not worth going after the little guy. The emails are just a scare tactic. Their biggest weapon is attempting to force your ISP to shut down your service, which more and more ISPs have gone from usually ignoring to outright refusing.

TPB and Demonoid have saved me probably close to a thousand a year in software and entertainment costs.

Don't want to waste my time going into it, but Hughes sucks. And them and their foreign operators tried to rip me off.

Hughesnet is an absolute waste of time and money. I don't know squat about download speeds, speedtests, etc. But I specifically asked them if it was fast enough to stream movies. They assured me it was, but it is NOT. It takes ALL DAY to download a one hour HD show on demand. If I want faster speeds, I could pay an extra 20 bucks a month. But I'm paying 77 as it is. Once my contract is up, they can come take their dish and stick it up their ***.
