...even towards the end...

But, hotdayamn, that Neil Price is a really good play by play man.

Only had the chance to listen to the Sunday game, but I'm so glad he's as strong in the baseball booth as he is with football and basketball.

Thanks, Cohenz.
Assumed he would be. Listened to bits and pieces all weekend and sure enough.
At the risk of over stating it, reminds me of Vin Scully calling routine balls and strikes, count, etc.

If you were listening yesterday any chance you remember the Jerry Clower story? Great example how smooth he is as I was watching live and listening to the call -
Cade "Udel" comes into pitch for Manhattan and he tells Jay, you know where I'm going with this.
Proceeds to rattle off all of the Ledbetters and covers how he knows of Jerry Clower while mixing in the count.
Then it gets really good. Starts one of his favorite Clower routines and half way through Downs steals second. Stops the story, calls the play, reminds us it's his second SB of the day, further reminds us that all stolen bases are sponsored by who ever, goes back and finishes up the routine and concludes with and that's how we went off the rails ... Cade Udel. Never missed a beat.

Scully is exactly what I was thinking yesterday. Price strikes me as someone who works really hard even when he's not on the mic to be the best at his craft.

Neil was the baseball guy at Kentucky before he came here and a big Reds fan. Not surprised he’s fitting in seamlessly in that sport.

I loved listening to Jim and I will miss that part of my life. There was nothing better than doing the chores listening to him or even laying in the hammock listening.

BUT, by God, Neil is an excellent replacement and if he keeps those Clower stories coming, he’s going to make the transition an easy one.

Agree. Only that Jim will never be replaced. But Neal is very good follow up and don't know if we could have done better.

Just as he incorporates some Jackism’s in with football, he also did some Jimism’s on Friday.

We all loved Jack & Jim in the booths (& by the glass!) but it was just time for them to retire from the booth.

Just like with Jack, its not who is technically better but what voice you expect to hear when you turn on the radio.

Acknowledging how good Neil is in no way disrespects Jim. If anything it shows how good Neil had to be to step in.

I thought Neil did a fine job. Not perfect. Like we all do, he makes mistakes too, but great job. Like Jack Cristil, I will forever miss Jim because the sound of his voice is so iconic to MSU baseball. Every time you heard it you were transported to a different time and place. I was a senior in high school when Ellis started his run and 64 when he hung it up so Jim essentially took me through college and my entire work career as the the voice of the Diamond Dawgs.
