I've been working here for a few months and finally found a spot to live.
What's good in new albany? I've eaten gametyme a few nights every week so far.

The best thing about New Albany is that it's 20 minutes from Tupelo and it looks absolutely beautiful in your rear view mirror.

I enjoy the converted railroad trail there. Great for running/biking. It's a little rough as you leave town but quite nice as you go.

When I go through... I stop and pick up something from George's on 15. Taylor's restaurant is an ok restaurant over in the industrial park. Heard the warehouse restaurant close to downtown is ok too.

There are several little places on Main Street that I can't think of the name of. There's a place across the street from the Fred's that has a great blue plate lunch. The Mexican place by Lowe's is legit and owned by a State grad, fwiw.

Tallahatchie gourmet is the place you're thinking of. It's great. I haven't heard of the warehouse though

Not a lot of choices but..

El Aguave is the Mexican restaurant near Lowe's the someone mentioned. Try the https://www.google.com/search?biw=1...a=X&ei=1SDlU7nFK432yQSPiIDQDQ&ved=0CBsQvwUoAAHawaiian quesadillas and the guacamole is made fresh at your table. George's has great chicken and if you like fried chicken livers they'll make sure you have plenty. Taylor's place is near my house and their weekend buffet dinner has a good selection.

Having said all of that, drive to Tupelo if you want a good meal.

Can the restaurants now serve booze? I know they recently approved beer for sale in the stores.

Yes, but not all of them do. El Aguave has beer, wine, and mixed drinks (margaritas, etc.). The Pizza Pit has beer. I think the new Sushi place, Yamato, has beer and wine. Other than that it's pretty slim.

I'm new to Tupelo from Nashville. Seems to me that there are a lot of great places here. Romie's, Cafe 212, Park Heights, Kermit's Outlaw Kitchen, South, Blue Canoe, Lost Pizza, a couple of good Thai places, Harvey's, Old Venice, Neon Pig, The Grill, Rosie's.... I could go on. Tupelo sure isn't making me any skinnier.

ETA: when I said "any skinnier" I meant "less fat."

Speaking of Tupelo. Anybody gone to Steele's Dive on W. Main. I drove by there one evening and the parking lot was packed. I figured with that location it wouldn't last long.

When you're from a town as small as mine, you can't wait to get to Tupelo on the weekend. Blue Canoe is my jam (despite being run by a rebelbear). Oxford has a few nicer looking places but I think Starkville has the edge on the actual food.

Cravin' Catfish in Sherman

Not a fancy place, but they have some good food, kind of home cooking, all you can eat buffet. It's just a little past the Toyota plant. It's my kind of place, but only open certain days/times I think. At one time it was only open Friday & Saturday.

George's, as someone else mentioned, in New Albany has earned a good reputation.

Nautical Whimsey is some if the best food in town.

Stables has some really good food too, especially the burger.

Blue Canoe is good food but I rarely go because the owner is a complete and utter asshat.

Conversely, the owners of Romie's (husband and wife--big Ole Miss fans) are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

This is true, and one of my favorite bars. I never go to Blue Canoe's bar because the owner doesn't give a **** about the customer or their experience. He voices his disdain for people who bring a kid of any age to eat. And he starts charging a door fee at 7:45 even if you have zero intention of staying longer than it takes you to eat because he's afraid he'll miss out on $10.
