Veazey has a link to some pics of the new Auburn basketball arena while in construction. One thing that caught my attention:

We're looking south again. We are actually at the very top seat in the house, and it's still awfully close to the court. See the wooden plank at the bottom of the photo? That's where a long table with cup holders and barstools will be installed. It will ring the entire expanse of the upper deck and provide a really cool seat.

Very cool. Reminds me of the American Airlines Center in Dallas. They have this sky bar thing where they actually sell alcohol. It isn't meant to necessarily provide great seats - but is it an bar with a side open to the arena.

I'd say I can't set that happening in Starkville, but maybe it wouldn't be a stretch from the club level at DWS.

Evan WoodberyLooking east from the mid-level concourse. The lower level on the east side will have exclusive club seating for 450 lucky ticket holders. The other three sides of the lower level will have bleachers for students.
also, he mentions several times that the arena is very "intimate". the club area in the lower level is a great idea, something we need to consider if/when we renovate. the bar going around the top is interesting. should be a great place to stand and drink your coke while you watch the game... i think that this arena, while not large, will be very cool and a good place to watch basketball. kinda like a new AA stadium - not as big as the big boys, but cool features all over.

There's no point in Ole Miss building a 15,000 seat arena, but one that fit 10,500 or 11,000 max, with the fans close to the court would do very well I think.

It will probably never happen.
